Publisher's Summary

George R. R. Martin's alternate-history story revolves around one of six "geeks" sent back to a critical point in history. Their mission is to prevent the Swedish fortress of Sveaborg from surrendering to the Russians in order to win the war - or "maybe [to] just save ourselves from the plagues and bombs and the poisoned winds".

    "Grows on you"

Narrator has a weird style but he and the story grows on you as we learn more about the time-travelling 'Geek' programme. A little dark and gritty and not for everyone but a great story from a pedigree author.

"Shorter than I would have liked but still good"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend if they enjoyed George R. R. Martin's writing style and story telling. It was not a masterpiece by any means but the characters had a good amount of depth for them considering it is a short book.

What three words best describe Pat Bottino’s performance?

    Way too slow.

    "Love it"

This is really great short story by Martin. There is enough detail to make the story come to life, and leaving the reader wanting more.

    "An interesting little story"

This is an imaginative story. Fans of Game of Thrones will see a very different side to Martin here. It's not a classic story or anything. But it's unique, in an interesting setting and certainly delivers an engaging, if short dose of dark sci fi.
