Publisher's summary

The new novel in the hit New York Times best-selling Dresden Files series.

The Warden Morgan has been accused of treason against the Wizards of the White Council - and there's only one, final punishment for that crime. He's on the run, wants his name cleared, and needs someone with a knack for backing the underdog. Someone like Harry Dresden....

Now, Harry must uncover a traitor within the Council, keep a less-than-agreeable Morgan under wraps, and avoid coming under scrutiny himself. And a single mistake may cost someone his head - someone like Harry

Critic reviews

“Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton and Tanya Huff will love this series.” (Midwest Book Review)

“Superlative.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot.” (Booklist, starred review)

butcher needs to get his a.d.d. under control

his story lines get more and more confusing, he needs to f.o.c.u.s., also needs to check audible better, 3rd time there is skips/missing parts, have not checked which parts, legally blind, which is why get them, on audible, duh

Another great Dresden story!

Morgan comes to Dresden for help despite the long adversarial relationship. We are shown some insight to the inner workings of the White Court, & the Wardens. A lot of things going on this book, very entertaining.

Excellent Story!

I love Harry and how relatable he is. Not always the brightest light but always the most loyal. I was so worried about Toot and felt sad for Morgan. he could have been a good teacher to Harry and Molly. Cannot wait for the next book.

Just all around good

A dam good mystery that easy to fellow but at the same time not too simple that the listener can finger everything at beginning. As always James Marsters dose an amazing job with
all voices witch makes the reader fall in with characters even more. All around a dam good read but an even better listen!

Favorite Dresden Files book so far

Great story.

I don’t like some of the big picture choices but that’s because i have characters i favor and want things to go how i want them not necessarily what’s best for the story 😁
