A great story with a Lot of Truth & Wisdom tossed in to keep it interesting !
A good story. First read this in 1967 just when i was starting to discover Science fiction. while written for teen age kids of the 50s and 60s it holds up very well. The survival lessons and the group Dynamics work well. .
The main Character going from a green kid to a leader.
David Baker did a fine job on the narration.
The actors made the story come to life and the story was a good mix of action and interesting thougts. The people and characters are timeless and seem familar.Once you start it you will not be able to stop listening. This book is a classic .It well deserves a good listen.
The possiblities the story brought to life.
All his characters each take on a seprate and a believeable life of their own.
As a teen I read this book and fell in love with the sci- fi gender .
Get this book you will not be sorry.
Tunnel in the Sky is an enjoyable YA adventure story.
I am not much of a SciFi reader, but this was more like a survival-adventure story. The story never seemed to lag, nor did it go on too long.
Heinlein wrote a number of "juvenile" SF in his early years. These books read/listen just fine for adults. "Tunnel in the Sky" and "Citizen of the Galaxy" are two of his best. I don't like the full cast audio format but that doesn't detract from the story. Whether you're 16 or 60, this is worth the credit.
Dr. Christopher W. Roberts Ph.d I am a Computer Geek working around the U.S. and the world. I have a lot of Air miles to listen to audible titles.
This was one of Hienlein's Scribners Junvinal's well read pioneering story.
Highly recommended for young teens and any Heinlien fan.
I enjoyed them both the voice for rod walker was to young sounding to me
Jimmy was my favorite cause he always had something smart to say
certain parts did both or at least want to
this is a great book for a young teen
I have read this on paper 4 or 5 times. The full cast performance was enjoyable. The story was as good this time as the first.
Looking for a good first Heinlein? This is a great way to start.
If you enjoy Starship Troopers, you will enjoy this story.
I will listen to it again. The characters voices come alive and are not just a casual read of the story. Well done!
After having read the book 10+ times over the years, it was an unexpected pleasure to find it in audio, and even more enjoyable that the performances were so true to the book and what I felt they should have been.
A great listen for teens starting to get into sci-fi of Heinlein's youth based works and for his fans in general.
