Publisher's summary

Lanik Mueller is a "rad" - radical regenerative - a freak who can regenerate injured flesh...and trade extra body parts to the Offworld oppressors for iron. On a planet without hard metals, or the means of escape, iron offers the promise of freedom through the chance to build a spacecraft.

But it is a promise which may never be fulfilled, as Lanik uncovers a treacherous conspiracy beyond his imagination. Now charged with a mission of conquest - and exile - Lanik devises a bold and dangerous plan to finally break the vicious chain of rivalry and bloodshed that enslaves the people of the planet Treason.

Unexpectedly Great book. Now in my top 20 sci fi

I went into this book expecting a generic thriller sci fi book, what I got ended up being so much more. It's one of those books that really makes you question the subjectivness of reality, and the human condition as a whole. I rarely listen to titles a second time, but this seems like one of the books where the level of insight is so palpable that I'm positive I will come back for a second pass.

It asks some serious questions, questions about the nature of morality, and what it truly means to be free, and poses the possibility that such concepts are meaningless, depending on which tribe you tend to agree with. All in all, I found this book to blow my expectations out of the water, it's free, and I'd highly suggest listening to it.

Great book. Great recording. I’ve read a lot of Card’s work but this one was new to me.

A lot better than I thought

I'll admit, the story was an oddity for me at first. but it ended up being an interesting story with great cultures. I loved the twists

Unique

I enjoyed the unique story. It was very surprising and the characters just the right amount of depth without having to branch into dozens of back stories.

Not Card's Finest

I might have liked this book better if I was not simultaneously reading Kage Baker's "The House of the Stag." The protagonists in both stories acquire superhuman abilities that allow them to overcome the obstacles posed by the worlds in which they live. I became a trifle confused between the two stories and annoyed that the heroes needed to be superhuman to make a difference. Perhaps I would have liked both books better if I had read them at different times.

That being said, Card is an excellent writer and I did finish the book.

Generous

This was a very original book but without well developed premiss. I love science fiction with some sort of logic or science background but I could not get interested in this book.

Good Scifi

What was one of the most memorable moments of Treason?

It was just plane old engrossing scifi. Easy to loose yourself in a different world. Even one with odd characters such as these. Brings up ethical and cultural issues in a unique way.
