Publisher's summary

Kara Gillian is in some seriously deep trouble.

She’s used to summoning supernatural creatures from the demon realm to our world, but now the tables have been turned and she’s the one who’s been summoned. Kara is the prisoner of yet another demonic lord, but she quickly discovers that she’s far more than a mere hostage. Yet waiting for rescue has never been her style, and Kara has no intention of being a pawn in someone else’s game.

There’s intrigue to spare as she digs into the origin of the demonic lords and discovers the machinations of humans and demons alike. Kara is shocked to discover that she has her own history in the demon realm, and that the ties between her and the demonic lords Rhyzkahl and Szerain go back farther than she could have ever imagined. But treachery runs rampant among all the lords, and she’s going to have to stay sharp in order to keep from being used to further their own agendas. The lords have a secret that dates back to earth’s ancient history, and it could have devastating repercussions for both worlds.

Yet more than anything else, Kara’s abilities as a homicide detective will be put to the test - because this time the murder she has to solve is her own.

Disappointing

I have enjoyed Diana Rowland’s books immensely. I listened to her zombie series first and loved it. I started listening to this demon series next and was enjoying this series as well, until this book. This book was painful and difficult to get through. It seemed as if the series just did a huge face plant. I struggled through this book, and hoped the next would be better. It’s not, I won’t finish it. I’ll be moving in to something else.

Not my favorite.

What did you like best about Touch of the Demon? What did you like least?

Touch of the Demon, continued the Kara Gillian storyline, but this book was sluggish. I was bored with it. If I start a book a have to finish it. This book took weeks to finish. I couldn't stay with it. I would call this a clean up book. An author wants to give more insight to the overall story, but doesn't really have a lot of a plot otherwise. I believe this could have been achieved by adding a couple chapters in one of the other books. For me this book dragged on and on. I like the Kara Gillian series, but I could have done without a whole book to tell me the very little I learned in this book. (This review reflects only this book in this series)

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I don't know if I'll continue the series. Based on the ending of this book the next could be more of the same setting and it's the cop dynamic in Kara that I really like, so I'm not interested in reading more about the demon realm.

Have you listened to any of Liv Anderson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Liv Anderson gives a wonderful performance.

Any additional comments?

I can't even finish listenining

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Nothing I got frustrated listening to the book. I really hate how whiney and bitchy the main character became and I stopped listening.

Would you ever listen to anything by Diana Rowland again?

Probably not. I didn't finish listening to it and returned the next book in the series
