John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd star in three Torchwood radio adventures from the Lost Files, each set before the TV story Children of Earth.

The Devil and Miss Carew sees Gwen and Rhys involved in a nursing home mystery. Why is Miss Carew, an octogenarian with terminal heart disease, suddenly looking so fit and healthy? And what is her connection with the mysterious power cuts that are sweeping the nation? Written by Rupert Laight.

Submission finds the Torchwood team heading for the bottom of the sea – the Mariana Trench – after they intercept a distress call. But when the submarine they are on crashes, they find themselves at the mercy of a hungry alien.... Written by Ryan Scott.

The House of the Dead sees a special séance being held at the most haunted pub in Wales. The House of the Dead is about to close, and many regulars have turned up on the last night in the hope of seeing their deceased loved ones. But then the ghosts start arriving – and all hell breaks loose.... Written by James Goss.

An uneven collection with one shining entry

Three short entries that detail lost files from the Torchwood archive. The Devil and Mrs. Carew is pretty standard for Torchwood and entertaining, Submission is forgettable, but the real star is The House of the Dead.

The House of the Dead is the last entry in the trio - and this is important the timing of the story is cleverly done and works nicely - it details Gwen, Ianto and Jack's attempts to stop a seance at the oldest pub in Wales and prevent the ascension of a terrible ancient force.

Fans of Jack and Ianto will NOT want to miss this entry.

House of the Dead alone worth the purchase price!

If you could sum up Torchwood: The Lost Files, Complete Series in three words, what would they be?

Jack And Ianto

What did you like best about this story?

From the Jack loves Ianto audiobook review corner:
I just finished listening to The House of the Dead, the last story in an audiobook called Torchwood: the Lost Files. Of the 3 stories, this one was perfection! All the characters scripted without flaw and the twist at the end that I didn't see coming. If you can, listen to this story, and have tissues nearby for the ending.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Their own voices. The narrators are the folks who portray the characters on TV. Although I'd hear their voices in my head were I to read these stories, I wouldn't hear all the delightful nuances that the actors themselves bring to the production.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Ianto being angry at Jack's selfishness. Sounded real, felt real.

You Got Your Hub In My iPod!

What I loved about Torchwood: The Lost Files was having the old cast doing the show, it brings back memories of me in middle school watching season 1 and 2 of Torchwood

It was nice to hear Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) come backs

Torchwood rules!!

I very much enjoyed listening to this set of Torchwood tales. I liked all three of these story very much. I have been wanting to hear "The House of the Dead" for a long time and was definitely not disappointed by it! Highly recommended for Torchwood fans!!

Good Torchwood Jaunt

What I Liked: It was nice to hear the interaction between the Torchwood crew. As much as there used to be other members, Jack, Gwen, and Ianto were always the heart of the show for me. So having those actors reprise their character roles even in these audio adventures made for good fun. And they even brought in Rhys (Kai Owen) because he really rounds out Gwen's story, right?

The stories in themselves were prety good ranging from your classic clever adventure with "The Devil and Miss Carew" and going straight for the feels in "The House of the Dead". This is Torchwood after all and their efforts to be the more "adult" of the Doctor Who programs also meant crafting emotionally heavy stories that really make you feel something. And of course a short story that involves the ghosts of the dearly departed coming back can't mean anything good for our characters.

What Could Have Been Better: That said, this limited collection of radio dramas also means not as much content as we'd like. The first two stories are sort of self-contained adventures that really don't play out anything significant in the greater scheme of things and only the last story really tries to do something significant that sort of touches on the larger continuity of the Torchwood universe. In other words, the other stories don't necessarily feel like it was absolutely essential that they had to be Torchwood stories.

In that regard I wished there was a bit more time to develop character stories more or to really have us feel like we were back in a full-fledged Torchwood adventure. That means more of Gwen's domestic drama with Rhys and that sort of fun stuff. Those little touches that really made the show a unique little family amid the darkness that they deal with.

Great short stories.

Loved these short stories compiled together. Reminds me of Torchwood before american channel STARS tried a bad continuation of the series.

OH.MY.GAWDS.

I am just going to comment on the final chapter, "The House of the Dead", because while the other stories were very good, THIS ONE BLEW ME AWAY. I was not expecting the twist it took and I am still REELING from it. BRILLIANT, bloody brilliant.
