Interesting plot

Eve Myles does a decent job of narration managing at times to capture even Jack's personality without quite nailing the accent. She handles the other characters well enough but is not as polished as Gareth David-Lloyd (though I believe he has more audiobook/narration experience as well). The plot is pretty complex and any listener will want to pay attention or risk being lost. The character James could be further fleshed out to earn more empathy/sympathy from the reader but all in all if you're a Torchwood fan you'll likely enjoy the book. For those just getting into Torchwood I would recommend the 45ish minute dramatized shorts before this.

Torchwood Border Princes

Torchwood is a BBC Television program which stared to air on October 22 2006. Border Princes by dan Abnett, ( no stranger to Sci FI themes) was the second in the line of three original novels based on that T.V program.
Read by the very lovely Eve Myles, Who plays Gwen Cooper on the team of Torchwood, you will see If you are familiar with Torchwood, that from the first few minutes of the reading, there is something "off" "strange""wrong" which only adds to the drama of the story as you listen on. If you are new to the world of Torchwood ( based in modern day Cardiff, Wales ) You will not pick up on this feeling of something is wrong, but you will be intrigued by the story and its Characters all the way too its exciting end. Border Princes is a well told Sci Fi story with a dash of the human drama and a sprinkling of human emotion.

I love Eve’s voice! I think she does a great job narrating the story.

The team finds and contains several alien devices, completely unaware they are being affected by one they missed.

Poorly done audio made it hard to listen.

The problems I had with the book might be related to the audio system in my iPod or my car stereo. Whichever it was, this book was hard to listen to and therefore I can only give it 2 stars.

Who is James?

Well written, great plot, the reading was spot on. However the author added a new Charactar (james) with no explanation of how he got there. All the regular crew of Torchwood interact with him as though he has been there for years, a part of the Torchwood team. I spent the entire story unable to consentrate on a brilliant plot about: Spoiler: a four dimensional puzzlebox and the creature hunting it. I spent the entire time WAITING for James, who came out of nowhere to be explained.... Why had I never heard of him? Why is everyone acting like he's always been there? (Adam anyone?) Never explained. Ruined the story.
