From New York Times best-selling author David Mack comes an original, thrilling novel set in the universe of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Death slumbers in the ashes of silent planets, waiting to be awakened and unleashed....

Twenty years have passed since the interstellar scourge known as the Husnock were exterminated without warning by a being with godlike abilities. Left behind, intact but abandoned, their desolate worlds and derelict ships brim with destructive potential.

Now a discovery by a Federation cultural research team has drawn the attention of several ruthless factions. From black market smugglers to alien military forces, it seems every belligerent power in the quadrant hopes to capture the Husnock's lethal technology.

All that stands between the galaxy and those who have come to plunder the cruelest secrets of the Husnock are Admiral William Riker, Captain Christine Vale, and the crew of the Starship Titan.

If you enjoyed other recent Star Trek novels (especially "Hearts and Minds" or "Prey" part of the awesome trilogy) you will like this one.

Tuvok! Gorns! Nausicaans! Oh my! Perfect reading and probably the best job ever of being faithful to the (non-JJ) canon.

Perfect reading; most Trekkie of all Trek stories.

I am a hardcore Trekkie and this was one the best books I’ve EVER read! Star Trek or not , this was well written and perfectly put together made only better by Robert Petkoff!

It was a good narration and a great story. It had me on edge at several moments and sometimes had me guessing what the crew of the Titan was going to do next.

I am glad they are making new audiobooks for Star Trek. This one has a good story and the performance is great as usual. I have been reading the books that have a shared universe to them with a great amount of enjoyment, but something felt off with this book’s portrayal of the crew. It’s main focus seems to be on the captain, first officer, and engineer, all of who annoyed the ——— out of me for some reason this time. Otherwise, it was a good story.

Overall a good audiobook

While most Star Trek episodes can be somewhat predictable, This One was not terribly different. That being said the style in which it was written, and the storyline itself was definitely a good read. Definitely worth the purchase, especially given how long the book is. There were points where you didn’t wanna stop listening. Would highly recommend this story. Cannot wait for the sequel.

Well done

As I say, it is by my estimation true to Gene's vision but definitely a bit less...maybe just a tiny bit less PG. I enjoyed it, although I don't believe I'd have liked any more infighting. the story is plausible and a great nod (as they so often do very well) to an unexplored story from TNG. The denouvement was very satisfying amd as always, Robert Petkoff is brilliant here.

Star Trek... but a bit grittier
