However, unknown to most fans, Heinlein had already written a "parallel" novel about the four characters and parallel universes in 1977.

Interesting subject matter, but dull and drawn out
Lots of good ideas explored, but overall the dullest heinlein book I've read and it just kept going and going and going...

Gratuitous sex ruins the story
Anyone familiar with Heinlein will expect a degree of hedonism in his stories. This story lays it on thick. It is basically the story of a Man breaking every heterosexual taboo over 2000 years. It is interesting at first, but it gets to be too much by the end.

I think th e voice actor is amazing... would have liked to have heard his young and old voice have differences... also would have liked a female voice actor to do the female roles.

Intriguing but too long
A little too repetitive, but worth hearing to the end. The concepts are exceptionally thought provoking. Once man conquers space, how will he master death? Where will he explore afterwards? How will our relationships evolve in the future? What are the consequences of humanities norms and morals? None of the questions are answered, just explored.

An Exceptional and Exhausting Story
Although the storyline was quite interesting when contemplated afterwards, reading through this novel was exhausting. I have effortlessly read a large body of classic literature and science fiction, what many would consider boring books, but I struggled greatly to make it through this one. The dialogue and events were far too drawn out, for my taste. Some fairly heavy editing would have made this book marvelous.

Incredible
Heinlein is one of the greatest storytellers I’ve ever seen, and also one of the greatest thinkers. This book was as much of a life lesson as it was a darn good story.
