SCIFI DVDS RULE
No. One time was sufficient although I did have to relisten to several parts to grasp the story and see if I overlooked something. I listen to about 25,000 pages of audio books each year and it is very rare that I have to do this (relisten). Mostly I felt that the author was trying to tie up too many loose ends and did not explain why things occured. Also, the payoff occured about 75% into the book and how the deed was accomplished was never explained....it just happened. More specifically the Shaman resolution was left vague. Perhaps it is my fault as it has been a while since listening to prior book?
I liked the very very very end (last 15 minutes) only as a back story to most of the prior 5 books but again I was not exacty sure what was going on prior to that in the Epilogue. Almost like he left out a chapter or two...
Yes. the prior 5 books in this series. Always excellent. One of the reasons that I stuck with this series even through the lesser books.
Humor was still strong point as well as the Journal entry narrative tool.
all things awesome
From five minutes into the first Zombie Fallout novel, I was hooked. Mark Tufo's writing and Sean Runnette's narration are a match made in heaven. I hope to hear more from this duo in the future.
I had read (or rather, listened) to books one through four - totally skipped five based on a myriad of poor reviews - and signed up for audible just so I could listen to the conclusion of this series. (of course, now I'm completely hooked on audible and find myself buying and listening to new books way more often than I anticipated).
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, though it doesn't compare to books one or two. I was glad to finally learn the back story of Eliza and quite liked the new hippie millionaire he stumbled across. I found it easier to just roll with the story and not think too deep about how illogical some of the plot points were, like how you watch an episode of the A-Team where a jeep blows up, flips over, and the passenger crawl out like nothing happened. It's still a fun ride, albeit an implausible one.
I will give it this - I was totally surprised by the end. Possible setup for a prequel?
Another incredible book in the series that just keeps you hanging in there for the next one!
this series in awesome!!! the story is captivating, the narration is great Sean Runnette is one of the best in the business. I've finished this series at least 4 times and it just as good as the first.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
IN THE TOP 10!!!! This is my fave of the series so far!!! This was the funniest..and saddest of the series...loved loved loved!!!!
JOHN THE TRIPPER!! Hands down, best character besides Mike, and maybe BT so far!!!!
The Cave Scene!!!! LAUGH OUT LOUD, TEARS FLOWING, PEE YOUR PANTS FUNNY!!!!!!!! I had to go back and listen to it again after I finished the book...JOHN THE TRIPPER ROCKS MY WORLD!
ABSOLUTELY!!!! loved it!!! I have loved all these books!!!!!
OMG!!! This has got to be the best book of the series so far, and that is saying A LOT!!! This is a GREAT series!! Cant wait to read book 7!!! John the Tripper is one of the funniest and unique character in this series...he is HIGHLARIOUS in every sense of the word!!! I loved this book sooooo much, I may just listen to it ALL again right now...I did listen to the cave scene again..and JUST as FUNNY a second time!!! I WANT TO HANG OUT WITH JOHN THE TRIPPER!!!!!! 2 THUMBS UP!!!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Say something about yourself!
Still a great story!! Mike comes across a few new characters. One of which.. John the Tripper. I found to be very fun. Its interesting to listen to Mike try to adapt is normal communication as his normal sarcasm is lost here. Listen to story and you will understand my meaning.
The ending is good but not what I was thinking. I thought something more dramatic. Its the very end where Mike is writing in his journal that makes me want to buy book 7 right now!!!! It "starts" to answer a question I have had all along. Why is Eliza to fixated on the Talbot's? It was never addressed that I recall until now.
A great series with a great reader.
Highly recommend this book and series
This series takes you from hysterical laughter to gruesome death. The characters are engaging. Every loss breaks your heart, but the wit and funny situations bring you back to laughing. So very happy that I found this series!
would recommend to some. series is good and has new take on zombies and vampires and such.
there should be a rule that the timeline in book must at least be longer than the actual length of the audible narrative. The story is good but it drags on so long. This author could spend chapters lamenting on how a character feels with zombie goo on his clothes. GET ON WITH THE STORY. Seems like the author is trying to drag out a normal one-three book story into 100 books.
I kind of want to listen to book #7 but I figure after 10 hours of audible listening, the main character will not reach the end of their driveway from the house.
Love that we get to know the side characters a bit more.
The story is wonderfully written, I love that I get to hear different perspectives, it makes for an awesome experience overall
CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE TUFO/RUNNETTE combo!
This is a weird little series. It took me halfway through the first book to get into the groove of the inappropriate humor, what is usually internal dialogue being external, and seemingly light-hearted approach to the zombie genre. Once I got it into my head that this felt like a character with some time and distance from the events using the "laugh or lose your mind and cry" approach it all made sense to me. I would encourage readers to hang in there, get through the first book, and see if it doesn't grow on you. If I hadn't paid 20 bucks for the audio book I would have stopped a chapter in. I'm soooo glad I didn't because now I'm on book 6 and I love this series. This isn't a humorous take on zombies. It is a character (like cops, military, er nurses etc) using sarcasm and black humor to get through tragedy and horror.
perfect for the character
"A poor series finale..."
This is the final book in this particular saga and it's by far the worst. Whilst this particular genre is never going to be considered great literature the previous novels have all been enjoyable, consistent and reasonably well written.
Without giving anything away the main problems include:
The ludicrous "showdown" scenario.
The constant inability of the main character to remember how he had been changed in a previous novel and what benefits this granted him.
The transformation of one of the most interesting and morally ambiguous characters into a cartoon villain.
The overly long epilogue.
Anyone who is considering buying this has presumably bought the previous novels and will inevitably buy this to complete the saga. However I've found this to be irritating enough to ensure I won't be buying any other Mark Tufo audiobooks.
