LOVE THIS SERIES

This series is one of the best I’ve read/listen to... the characters are in depth and the narrator does such a great job at portraying them you'll actually be left thinking 'Ha, that's something Vlad would say' etc... If you have read/listen to the first 4 books of the Night Huntress Series and the 2 World Huntress Series it's a must, while each book is easily a standalone story, they definitely run on from one another. If this is one of the first series you've gotten, I also liked the Sookie Stackhouse series, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs series and the Drake Chronicles (It's taken me a long time to find some good vampire series, I wished people would write what else they liked in their comments)... Happy reading, can't wait for the Vlad World Huntress book to come out...

The characters and the humor used by this author makes this series the best.

Kat is my favorite character. Tough yet very caring of others.

I have listened to all of the books in this series. All of the characters work well together.

hmmmmm....I really don't know, but I have read all the Night Huntress books up to this one...and am starting #6 now! LOVE THEM!!!!

Even though this is not my fave of the series, it still was really good....and I hope #6 is too!

I loved the parts where Cat interacts with Maria in New Orleans.

What was one of the most memorable moments of This Side of the Grave?

The most memorable parts of the book is where Cat and Bones renew their dedication to each other.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings the action to life with her narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When one of the most important people in Cat's life dies.

Very Entertaining, I think the sex details were a little much and I wish that Audible had a "30 Sec" forward button so I could just fast forward through that part. I won't say it wasn't entertaining but the story wouldn't have lost anything without it. If you are a little prudish I would probably say "Stay Away!" There is one or more sex scenes that is very detailed beyond the X rating.

That was excellent!

The intimate scene in this book scorched my ears.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tavia Gilbert is a genius narrator. She truly is a wonderful actress and gives each character a distinct voice. I typically don't like female narrators because they can't do a mans voice. I completely forgot this was just one narrator and became so engrossed in the story that I frequently jumped and yelled in reaction to the suspense.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely!

It is a very good story made even better by the Tavia. Every audible book should be read by her. Tavia has ruined me for other narrators!

Upper 50's

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vlad because he always stands by Cat even though it could hurt him. His character is very funny in a twisted way.

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

female ghoul in New Orleans, everytime she does this character it reminds me of the oracle in the Matrix, who was strong yet compassionate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not this one, it was a good story but Napolian reminds me to much of the politicians now and that is just annoying.

Another well wriitten, well read sassy story

What did you love best about This Side of the Grave?

The characters humorously interact with each other as the horror of their lives unfold. If you like Anita Blake, you will love Cat Russel. The interaction with the Ghoul Queen and the suspenseful story make this a great listen and Tavia Gilbert brings this story alive.Plus it's a;ways good when Vlad is in the story.

I have listened to all of her Cat and Bones story's and as always she does a great job narrating this story.

Just like the rest of this series I just did not want to turn it off.

I love the Rachael Morgan and the first 10 books of the Anita Blake story's and Frost's Cat character is just as good as the other two if not better.

Narrator a bit overzealous...

Would you listen to This Side of the Grave again? Why?

Yes. I love the story and in general I love the narrator.

What didn’t you like about Tavia Gilbert’s performance?

I found she overacted the part a bit. I love her intonations and the fact that you can hear her (or the character) roll their eyes, or her exasperation but this book she took it a bit too far. The exaggerating of her voice and narration for exertion on the characters behalf took me out of the story a bit and made me pay attention to the narrator instead of the book. Take it back to previous levels Tavia! You were wonderful in all the preceding books.
