My favorite heros!

Would you consider the audio edition of Theft of Swords to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the book but the audio was wonderful.

What other book might you compare Theft of Swords to and why?

It doesn't really compare to any other book I've read yet. This is a great adventure story which made me giggle, warmed my heart and at the same time made me root for professional thieves, of all things :)

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the different voices and how he brought forth the characters sense of humor. He did a brilliant job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most definitely yes!

Any additional comments?

I loved how the author focused on the adventure and even though every character was real and human in their own way he didn't write this book like others taking place in similar "times". There are many authors who, with the understood attempt of making their characters "realistic" to the period or situation, write hard moments and make many characters, especially men, into pigs. I like that this book is very "grown up" but it was tasteful when it came to "adult" situations. Can't wait to listen to the others!

Fantasy well done

I don’t read sci-fi or fantasy books, but a previous review said nearly the same thing so since this was a sale book I selected it to give it a try. It was interesting and kept me listening. The ending makes me curious for the sequel.

What great characters!

If you could sum up Theft of Swords in three words, what would they be?

A Sci-Fi Win!

What about Tim Gerard Reynolds’s performance did you like?

He was able to give the characters true personality.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

Any additional comments?

Sci-Fi channel needs to pick up this book and make it a mini series! The characters are amazing and there are so many back stories that it branches off nicely.

Fast moving, entertaining, a lighter read

very enjoyable. somehow seems faster and lighter reading / listening than other Epic Fantasy Books I have read or listen to. perhaps less bogged down in details, but still retains a sense of being well written. the world reminds me more of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table then some of the more drastically dissimilar worlds created in other fantasy series that I have read. the plot is unique and unpredictable, but the story is not so complex that you can't remember all the different threads that are being woven. recommended.

Fun piece of fiction!

I really like the story and narrator! I was looking for something after the red rising series and glad I took my friend's recommendation for it.

Great characters. Good story. Awesome narration.
Worth listening to a second time to pick up on bits that you will probably miss.

3rd listen still amazing.

I’m going through the chronicles and revelation books again, after being extremely disappointed with the first empire series.

I thought maybe I was burnt out, or if I listened back to the original series I’d like them less.... nope. Chronicles and Revelations are still the only adventure/fantasy books I’d call perfect. I actually wonder if there was a ghost writer involved in them, or did MJS let his wife write the first empire series because I’ve never seen such a contrast from the same author.

Anyway these books are near perfect and the first empire books vary from trash to mediocre to nauseating.
