A crackerjack of a story

The 6 volume Riyria Revelations is a fast moving adventure tale with wonderful characters who continue to grow throughout the story. The story is tight, fast moving and the narrator is brilliant. He stays in voice for each of the main characters so that you can begin to identify them by the sound of their voices. I found myself deeply invested and rooting for the heroes of this tale. I have rarely listened to a long series that didn't wander, but this series moved right along. Each volume consists of a part A & B, so the series easily breaks into 6 parts if you need a breather between parts. I didn't and now my 12 year old grandson has started "Theft of Swords". He's a bit of a minecraft addict, but the Riyria Revelations has broken him away from the computer.

Loved it, hesitantly at first.

Where does Theft of Swords rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Favorite audiobooks!

In the first chapters of the book I would find my attention wandering. I didn't feel any connection to the characters at times. Keep listening though! The actual action and plots are clever and well done. They bring you into the world, while the character backgrounds are still being slowly revealed to you.

Once you listen on to the second half, things start picking up. I would get distracted at work because I would want to keep listening! When I finished listening, I immediately bought the next two audiobooks! And believe me they just get better! By the end of the Riyria set I was so sad there was nothing more to listen to!

I absolutely recommend this! Loved it!!!

SIMPLY AMAZING.

OH YES, this was not what i had expected at all. took me by surprise. could not stop listening to it.

What did you like best about this story?

EVERYTHING, But how so many can be thought of as good, and find they are the most evil. and how the weak turn out to be the most powerful. How loss can bring much more from with in.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

a feeling of someone that he was there. Made the story sound more like a memory than any fiction. Great with having you believe in every character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Never Give up, even in the face of certain death, death m,ay even run screaming from you.

Any additional comments?

please write more like this, or continue with more from this. I never thought this would become one of my all time favorite books. the worst part is knowing it will be over soon. Thank you for such a fantastic story. you are amazing.

Definitely worth it

I listen a lot of audiobooks, so finding one that’s 20 hours, a really engaging story, and has solid narration is rare. This one hits all three, a deep and ancient history that’s slowly uncovered and thought out characters that you grow attached to. This is a great start and I ready for more.

ENJOYABLE

While not my favorite, It is fun and enjoyable story. Just finished the series and found it a perfect filler while waiting for the next installments of my fantasy favorites (WoT final and Rainwilds). Even though "somewhat" predictable ... this was a fun and interesting story, very likable characters and quite well read. If you like WoT, Mistborn and the world of the Rainwilds you will enjoy this trilogy.

Spellbinding!

Where does Theft of Swords rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have listened and loved many books but this series ranks up there with the best.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tim Gerard Reynolds is a great storyteller, I loved the voices so distinct, rich, and consistent. I would purchase a book just to hear him tell it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well now I don't want to give anything away, but there were several moments especially later in the series that really got to me.

Any additional comments?

Listen to this series right now! Don't wait, don't stick it on your wishlist for some future date... start it now and you won't be able to put it down till all three books are done. I can't wait for his prequel books coming out later this year. Kudos on a great series and a great reader.

Good story, Great reader

What did you love best about Theft of Swords?

The depth of the characters, while seeming a bit simple at first, is quite very well done. This increases as the story goes on through books 2 & 3.

What other book might you compare Theft of Swords to and why?

Not a looming epic like A Wheel of Time or A Song of Ice and Fire. More like a Shannara book, or a D&D novel by Weis and Hickman.

Have you listened to any of Tim Gerard Reynolds’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only the continuation of this story. He is excellent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not quite, but close. I found myself foregoing some y favorite activities to listen to this instead.

Draws you in and keeps you there

I haven't had this much fun in a long time. Michael Sullivan's writing style draws you in immediately and keeps you there. The narration by Tim Gerard Reynolds is solid -- even the female voices. This is my first Michael Sullivan book and it won't be my last.

Excellent Trilogy

Would you consider the audio edition of Theft of Swords to be better than the print version?

Eh? I never read the book so why would I answer this question. Really Audible this is a stupid question.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything! The narration was great the story line exceptional, the characters believable and well defined. There is nothing to dislike in this audiobook.

Have you listened to any of Tim Gerard Reynolds’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this was the first one but I bought the remainder of the series because it was so good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Um I never do that. I only listen while I drive.

Any additional comments?

BUY THIS SERIES, IT'S AMAZINGLY GOOD.
