Publisher's summary

On the eve of D-Day, a British secret agent with unique powers goes behind Nazi lines.

Michael Gallatin is a British spy with a peculiar talent: the ability to transform himself into a wolf. Although his work in North Africa helped the Allies win the continent in the early days of World War II, he quit the service when a German spy shot his lover in her bed. Now, three years later, the army asks him to end his retirement and parachute into occupied Paris. A mysterious German plan called the Iron Fist threatens the D-Day invasion, and the Nazi in charge is the spy who betrayed Michael’s lover. The werewolf goes to France for king and country, hoping for a chance at bloody vengeance.

Critic reviews

"Simon Prebble's elegant narration adds dignity to a potentially tawdry premise: a British spy in Nazi-occupied Europe during WWII who is secretly a werewolf. As it turns out, McCammon's storyline is surprisingly plausible, and Prebble persuasively voices the spy's tortured introspection about his identity as well as the horrors of the Nazi regime…. Prebble articulates a wide range of characters--from a beautiful French Resistance warrior to a sneering Nazi officer--with just enough color to distinguish them. Also notable are Prebble's voices for the spy's fellow werewolves and his perfect pacing as the spy is almost cornered." ( AudioFile)

Robert McCammon Epic Delivery

This is the best book I have bought from Audible. The storyline and characters are amazing. I stayed up many nights listening to this book because I wanted to know, what's going to happening next. My lack of sleep is worth it. Love it!

My new Best Author.

Keeps you interested from beginning to the end. I was getting a bit tired of Fantasy and this is about real people with a touch of Fantasy - just the right balance. Can't wait to read his next book

Werewolf

I have enjoyed Robert mccammon books and did enjoy this one. But I did laugh a lot about the werewolf parts of the story.

Loved this book!!! So interesting and unique.

My book club chose this book. My husband and I both loved the story. The narrator did an excellent job and our interest never wavered. Excitement, history, mythology, fierce battles, trickery, and even a little romance. What more can you ask for in a novel?

ONE OF MY FAVORITES FROM ROBERT MCCAMMON

THE WOLF'S HOUR BY ROBERT R MCCAMMON is the number one favorite of mine from this author.

Michael Gallatin , Russian born, British agent , and most important of all, werewolf! Michael with his special talent, is tasked to be parachuted into Nazi occupied France to make contact with an agent. D-Day is coming and this agent has information that may quash the allied landing and turn the tables of WWII to Hitlers advantage. His quest sends him in the devils den,the heart of Germany then to the coast of Norway.

I first read THE WOLF'S HOUR when it first came out in book form and the audio version has just made it better. The narration by Simon Prebble is excellent and makes it one of my favorite audio books.

One of McCammon best!!

Underworld movie set in the 1940's. Micheal Gallantan absolutely killed it. The story as a young boy to a young wolf to now was awesome. I'll start the second book asap.

Could not stop listening!

If you like werewolf books this one will not disappoint. Has everything a werewolf fan is looking for, transformations, romance etc. the narration was good I just wish he was able to do a better women’s voice and maybe change some of the voices to fit each character. They all sounded pretty much the same but it’s not a biggy.

Took some time to get into it but...

I wasn't really feeling this at first and bought it strictly because Robert McCammon is one of my favorite authors. After an hour or 2 I nearly game up, but I'm glad I didn't. I would absolutely recommend this book, it is well written with great characters.
