Publisher's summary

Sequel to the extraordinary The Name of The Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss.

This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, and a must for all fans of HBO's GAME OF THRONES. Picking up the tale of Kvothe Kingkiller once again, we follow him into exile, into political intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic . . . and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord. Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of the Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to its predecessor and a must for all fantasy fans.

Engaging and gripping, The Wise Man’s Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

Enthralling

If you were gripped, like me, by the first installment, you will not be disappointed. The second book doesn't let go, or let up; the action is constant and I found myself more and more invested in the story.

After spending so much time with Kvothe, he felt like a friend, and I was cheering him on the whole time. I felt sorry for him, happy for him, and even found myself getting mad at him a couple of times.

The narrator was good. He uses different voices and accents and it adds to the story. I listened to The Name of the Wind with another narrator, and found the transition somewhat jarring, however. This narrator has a British accent, and naturally pronounces things differently. This isn't in any way a fault in the narrator's performance, just something to consider. I liked both narrators, but I recommend sticking with one!

Can't wait for the third volume!

As you find more and more about the chandrian, Kvothe's progress in the school and the secrets of the university you only want more more more.

The best worldbuilding author out there.

I have so many good things to say about these books but what became even more apparent in book 2 is that Rothfuss is absolutely the best at creating a believable universe to weave his stories in. The details, the cultures, the languages,.. even the explanations behind the magic.

The narration by Degas heightens this feel even more as he gives distinctive voices to all the people and their local dialects. Excellent all the way.

A wonderful array of character voices.

A Must for Fantasy Lovers!

This is a fantastic series for fantasy fans, I love that it really keeps you guessing as to whats going on and the narration by Rupert Degas is second to none, if you love Jim Butcher and Kevin Hearne than this should be your next listen!
