Publisher's summary

Sequel to the extraordinary The Name of The Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss.

This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, and a must for all fans of HBO's GAME OF THRONES. Picking up the tale of Kvothe Kingkiller once again, we follow him into exile, into political intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic . . . and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord. Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of the Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to its predecessor and a must for all fantasy fans.

Engaging and gripping, The Wise Man’s Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

A fun, thoughtful and addictive tale of fantasy.

I would finally recommend this book to any fans of the traditional fantasy genre.

The performance was amazing and the story was very addictive although it was not the most nuances of tales.

Don't do it!!! Wait for the last one!

I love a good fantasy romp. I loved GOT, thoroughly enjoyed HP, and LOTR made me very happy. Got the picture? Yeah well I heard about this series ages ago and put it in my wishlist so I wouldn't have to wait for the final book in the series (Cough cough George RR Martin cough cough). But the other day after listening to some seriously AWFUL books I decided to go to the wishlist. Not thinking clearly (I had just filled my mind with utter garbage remember?) and saw these and thought "Yeah! I have read such good things about these books!" and bought them. Stupid me! Mr. Rothfuss has written some great books, they really are, but now we have to wait, and wait, and hope, and hope that the author doesn't die or lose interest completely.

So to sum up; great books, great story, excellent narrator (with some minor quibbles around pronunciation) but I wish I hadn't read them until the last book was released.

Rupert Degas is trully amazing

Apart from the book itself wich needs no more praises than it already has, i can only thank Rupert Degas for a wonderful and deep storytelling. It is obvious that the narrator had a special care for the characters as ALL of them had diferent accents, and we can always tell wich character he was impersonating by his narrating. Hands down my favorite. And i wish he did more fantasy, because i sincerelly would listen just for his narrating.
10 stars!

More than a fantasy book

Amount of wisdom and depth in this story is so inspiring. The world created by the author is incredibly immersive, thanks for meticulous attention to detail and narration. Thanks to both author and narrator it’s a master piece. Waiting in silence for the 3rd book.

Masterpiece

Best Narrator and best book I've listened next to The Name of the Wind. Great plot, beautiful word play. Voice actor creates a suitable atmosphere.

2nd in Series, still Excellent

Much of what I said in my review of the first book of the Kingkiller Chronicles still applies. There are sections here that tend to be rather long-winded, but all is forgiven in writing which is this good.

I'm afraid the talented Rothfuss/Degas duo may have spoilt me for any other fantasy novels, but I'll keep hoping for an equal. (Or at least close).
