Publisher's summary

The adventure of a lifetime might just end in turmoil, but when it includes meeting your future mate, who gives a hoot?

A Novella of the Elder Races

For a librarian with a focus on rare magic books, Olivia's new job is a dream come true. She has been hired as part of a team to help manage the safe transportation of the collection of books owned by the Vampyre sorceress Carling Severan. The fact that the library is located on a mysterious island in an Other land only heightens the adventure.

Head of security for the expedition, Sebastian Hale is tired of his rootless life of adventure and finds himself attracted to the calm, beautiful librarian. But he is living a personal nightmare. He has been hit with a curse that is slowly taking away his sight, and he doesn't know if he will survive the results.

But the powerful feelings growing between them, along with Sebastian's inner turmoil, take a backseat when they learn there is a traitor lurking among their expedition team. With Elder Races politics and a priceless library on the line, they'll have to rely on each other to survive the experience.

Warning: When a librarian who likes to nest meets an owl Wyr who has always lived for adventure, their romance won't just be fly-by-night...

short and sweet

I loved hearing about Grace and her new life as the Oracle. Part of me wanted this story to be fully developed but it was nice to have a short story to listen to in an evening and morning session

Great srory.

I enjoy all the Elder Races stories. It is pure enjoyment to listen to Sophie Eastlake bring these stories to life. I am always disappointed to realize I have come to the end of each book. Since I have listened to the entire series including up to Liam Takes Manhatten, I have now just finished a second listen of the series. I enjoyed The Wicked novella, though it was Sebastian's and Olivia's story, because it gave me a peek at Grace, the Oracle and Phaedra, the damaged Djinn from the Oracle's Moon, book 4 I belive. I hope to read more about this Djinn and her story in a later book,. She fascinates me. Thea Harrison is a favorite author. I love the worlds she builds. So much detail that I can literally feel surrounded by her story. I see everyone and everything very clearly.

Novella excellence

Some of the best lines and scenes that Harrison has written in this series have been with little Chloe and Max, and their Aunt Grace, the Oracle, and the djinn Khalil.
This novella starts with them, and is worth the price for that alone, without adding the very good story of Grace’s friend Olivia finding her mate in Sebastian, a man with a curse.
Eastlake does a decent job of narration.

Wicked Deliciousness

This was a yummy little taste of the Elder Races. While nothing major happens to advance the story arc for the series, it's a short sexy listen and pure top-notch entertainment.

Paranormal gothic romance with a touch of funny

Elder Race porn in a quick read. Well, maybe not porn but definitely a steamy, quick read. Kind of like a paranormal gothic romance with a touch of funny. Thea Harrison never disappoints. Keep them coming. Great story! Love this author and recommend anything in the series!

A visit to the world we love

There were small visits of a few characters from the previous Elder Race novels, but the story focused on 2 new people.

The basic premise is that Carling wants a library of hers to be moved. She has hired many people, one of which is a witch librarian, and a security team. Well when the librarian and the head of security get together there are some heavy fireworks. The usual Chaos ensues, but it was just nice to visit with this world again.

The book wasn't very long, but if you love the Elder Races it was a nice little fix.

Narration was awesome as usual!
