From the critically acclaimed author of Prince of Fools comes the third volume of the brilliant new epic fantasy series The Red Queen's War.
All the horrors of hell stand between Snorri Ver Snagason and the rescue of his family, if indeed the dead can be rescued.
For Jalan Kendeth, getting back out alive and with Loki's Key is all that matters. Loki's creation can open any lock, any door, and it may also be the key to Jal's fortune back in the living world. Jal plans to return to the three Ws that have been the core of his idle and debauched life: wine, women, and wagering.
Fate, however, has other larger plans....
The Wheel of Osheim is turning ever faster, and it will crack the world unless it's stopped. When the end of all things looms and there's nowhere to run, even the worst coward must find new answers. Jal and Snorri face many dangers - from the corpse hordes of the Dead King to the many mirrors of the Lady Blue - but in the end, fast or slow, the Wheel of Osheim will exert its power. In the end it's win or die.

"Mark Lawerence master at writing"
Sean Ohlendorf master of telling .Absolutely loved the whole series. Well written well spoken
"Mark Lawrence does it again!"
Loved the way the story continues to intertwine the adventures and fates of Jarl and Jorg
Although this was yet another travelogue the ensemble was both enthralling and full of action
At the completion of this trilogy I was left wanting more and who knows what tricks Mark will produce from his sleeves.
This is a definite must read!
"Fab narration but the story was inconsistent"
After really enjoying the first two books in this series, book 3 in The Red Queen's War series turned out to be a patchy affair.
The way book two ended left an opening for some pretty spectacular fantasy, however what we got was disjointed, clumsily flashbacks woven into 'real time' events.
Lawrence made the mistake of assuming that readers had read all his other work, and introduced characters from his others series, the significance of which was lost on me. Also I'm really not a fan of authors splicing other genres into their books. I believed i was listening to a sword and sorcery fantasy novel when in fact it was 'another genre' wearing a cloak of fantasy
In the end the best thing about this book for me was the marvelous narrator of the audio book Sean Ohlendorf. His voices for the characters gave the story an layer and bought it to life, and he is the only reason i kept listening when the plot started to unravel.
Really enjoyed the narration, really brought the characters personality and humour.
Story great, if a bit hard to.follow in.places.
A fantastic end to a wonderful trilogy... Jarlan kendreth is a most wonderfully written character..
"brilliant as usual"
A fitting end to another amazing trilogy by Mark Lawrence. Superbly written, not as brutal as the broken empire, but equally as good in other respects, such as it allows for a touch more humour
"good end to a great trilogy"
I was worried how this trilogy would end as I really enjoyed the first two but luckily this installment did not disappoint.
"I hope there is more"
Great listen. The story is fast paced and well narrated. If you liked the first two books in the Red Queen series this is even better. Please keep them coming.
"A near perfect trilogy"
I have been a fan of fantasy books for over 40 years and have read hundreds of books in that time. It's a rare pleasure to find a series of books that reignites the joy of discovery, fantastic pacing I only noticed on point where the pace flags in the three books. I simply loved these books. Narration was first class, I hope there is more to follow.
"Mark's best yet!"
Mark's best yet. And that's saying something! fast paced, hilarious and tragic both. Clever and witty, epic and personal. From deserts to cities and the walking dead to winged beasts, Prince Jalan faces his toughest challenged, and choices, yet! Do yourself a favour and continue with this excellent series.
