Publisher's summary

According to mythology, mankind used to live in 'The Tranquiline Halls': heaven. But then the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers followed. The Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, the Shardblades. Led by 10 angelic Heralds and 10 orders of knights known as Radiants, mankind finally won (or so the legends say).

Today the only remnants of those supposed battles are the Shardblades, the possession of which makes a man nearly invincible on the battlefield. The entire world is at war with itself - and has been for centuries since the Radiants turned against mankind. Kings strive to win more Shardblades, each secretly wishing to be the one who will finally unite all of mankind under a single throne.

On a world scoured down to the rock by terrifying hurricanes, a young spearman is forced into the army of a Shardbearer, led to war against an enemy he doesn't understand and doesn't really want to fight.

A riveting transportation to a whole new world

I absolutely loved it. Couldn't stop listening. I thoroughly enjoyed the sort of comic relief that Sil brought to the story. I found the jumps between characters to be perfectly divided and expertly used to build tension. I found the "world building" to be extremely well structured, detailing important aspects with big occurrences to assist the reader (or listener) in later recalling these details.

I'm hooked after the first book

Love the story, the world and the characters. Apriciated there being two narrators for characters of different genders, but they really need to coordinate pronunciation of names

SO good

You know that feeling when you watched a really good series and you just wished you could ser it for the first time again? That is what I get to experience when I start a new Brandon Sanderson series, because I know it is going to be good. I don’t consider myself an avid fantasy reader but this is the fifth Brandon Sanderson book I’ve read. Started with the Mistborn triology, then Warbreaker and now this book. He is such a good writer and the worlds in his books are very carefully built. The Way of Kings was the best book this far and I’m looking forward to the rest of the Stormlight series.

Really recommend

One of the best fantasy books I've read, some people dislike the female orator, but I didn't find her that bad, the only part that bothered me was the way they said someones name, she would say "sadiz" he would say "Sadius", I tought she was talking about a new caracter..
