Publisher's Summary

What was once the Peradaini Empire is now a wasted landscape of burned, empty cities and abandoned farmlands. The Blessing, now more numerous than ever, continues to spread across the continent, driving refugees to the dubious safety of the city walls. Unharvested crops mean that few strongholds have enough provisions to last the winter, although most know the grunts will take them before starvation will.

But hope survives. A piece of stolen magic just might halt the spread of The Blessing if Tejohn and Cazia can find a scholar with the skill to re-create the spell. If such a person still lives.

Unfortunately they are nearly out of time. The few remaining human enclaves are isolated and under siege. Worse, The Blessing has spread to other sentient creatures. If Cazia and Tejohn are going to strike back at their monstrous enemy, they cannot delay.

And there's another deeper question left unaddressed: Where did The Blessing come from, and why have they invaded Kal-Maddum?

The Way into Darkness is the final book in The Great Way series.

Author Harry Connolly's first book, Child of Fire, was listed in Publishers Weekly's Best 100 Books of 2009.

"Both interesting and exciting through the end"

The only fault that I found in this saga is that, regrettably, it came to an end. I'm pleased to find another author in Harry Connolly whose craftsmanship at creating a story with a unique take on the arcane arts but with a cast of characters and challenges that captivate one's interest such that they find it difficult to put down after any chapter.

As expected, Michael Kramer's narration was almost spellbinding on its own.

    A wonderful saga.

"Great ending for a great trilogy"

I really enjoyed the series, and the ending was satisfying. As with the first two, I thought the narration was excellent other than the strange lilt that he does at the end of many sentences.

    "Great Series"

The author did a great job keeping the major transitions unveiled in this last book of the series. Not only were both of the stark character and magical concept changes believable, but they were thought provoking. Some nice surprises to end a truly great series.

    "Decent Mid Fantasy Novel Series"

As always Micheal Kramer was phenomenal. The series was pretty quick and left several Un answered questions but all in all it was entertaining, engaging and certainly worth the purchase.

    "Pretty Interesting Ending"

Overall I have really enjoyed the series.

I did find the source of the Blessing a little hard to believe, but I do like where the main characters endings have brought them. The ending did feel a little rushed and tidied up, and left some things wanting more competition, but overall satisfactory.

I would definitely read any new book by the author.

    "Warning - Spoilers"

I loved this series and would recommend it to anyone but I have to admit that I found the ending to be a bit of a flop. That's not to say that it ended badly exactly but it felt like the author was grasping at straws to find a way to wrap it up and the finale was sort of smashed in there as an afterthought. I can think of a few different ways I would have liked to see it go, but I enjoyed the story regardless. My only remaining nagging question (spoilers) - what happened to Lar Italga and all of Cazia's other compatriots? Did they all die? It seems to me that the battle could have been won and they could have found each other as well. The reason for the blessing seemed to be a bit of a reach as well simply because it felt like the author was pulling a barely used group into the story for no other reason than to fill a hole.

I know I make this sound like I didn't like it. My reviews tend to leave me pointing out what I see as flaws in the story, but I did enjoy it enough to llisten to the whole series in less than a week so I definitely recommend it. A+ story.

"Great book with a great narrator."

I really loved this series. I didn't want to put it down. There was alot of action and the story moved along well. There really wasn't any spots where I thought the author was trying to stretch the book. I'm sad that it's over for me.

    "Great until the end."

Loved the book right up until the end. I won't spoil it, but the last chapter took a turn I didn't enjoy.
