Some of the parchment pages were the color of cream, thick and substantial, made to last many, many lifetimes. Other pages were thin and desiccated, positively yellow from age, and crackled alarmingly as Van Richten turned them over. There were no ornate illuminations, no fussy borders, only lines of plain text in hard black ink. The flowing handwriting was a bit difficult to follow at first; the writer's style of calligraphy had not been in common use for 300 years. No table of contents, but from the dates it looked to be some kind of history.

Amazing Performance
This was an awesome book in audio. Simon Vance did great character voices to differentiate the large cast, and I was sad when it was over. Thankfully there are many more books in this series. A little draggy in the middle, but a suspenseful ending. Recommended!

Interesting Ride......
It was different and kind of enthralling. This is fantasy to me that I have to accept as completely alien and fictional. The characters are interesting and sympathetic, though. Rice has a way with words. The story moves along nicely without getting too bogged down in exhaustive descriptions. She still paints a clear enough picture. It's helpful to get more of the larger back story, too. To bad the whole series is not on Audible.

Absolutely Stunning
I mean who doesn’t love Ann Rice!! I’ve read this book several times so I already knew the story was amazing. Listening to the book on audio was like I never read the book before. The narration turned this book into a movie.

Romantic
I really fell in love with Lestat and the evolution of his character through this second book. I loved the movie adaptations but am so glad i got to see the 'real' story.

New to Lestat
Hooked! Now I learn there is an entire series ahead of me and that it crosses over into the Rowan and Michael characters as well as the time shifting witch and vampire pair.
