    "A tale of a Priestess"

This is more the tale of the priestess than it is that of the Wizard. With that in mind though, it is a solid tale well worth listening to.

Listening is an absolutely critical life skill. Hearing the stories of others is one of its many rewards.

"In Some Ways, the Best of the Original Trilogy"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you liked The Wizard of Earthsea, this is a must-read sequel. I love how LeGuin pulls on a few threads from the first novel but mostly departs into a completely different tale ... in tone, structure, plot, and even in geography. Marginalizing Ged as a character until halfway through is a brilliant stroke and gives us a new character to care about in the form of a young girl, chosen one of the old powers of the Earth. The result is powerful ... lyrical, dusky, narrow in scope. Wow. It probably works best for young adults, as a coming of age story for girls. But it has a universal appeal.

Disappointing after the first Eartsea novel...long and boring at times with no real dramatic conclusion

"A Classic, Slow by Today's Standards but Beautiful"

It has been decades since I revisited the lady of Earth Sea and it was wonderful.

As a 60 plus advanced age my romance of the young girl's faith in this trapped wizard was far harder to accept. yet it was an interesting assessment of my naivety back in high school.

    "Very dull"
Would you try another book from Ursula K. Le Guin and/or Rob Inglis?

I am a big fan of Rob Inglis and his narration. He has a perfect voice for story-telling. I've not read anything by Ursula Le Guin besides the Wizard of Earthsea and The Tombs of Atuan, but I can tell you that both of these books had an extraordinarily dull story until a little past the halfway point. Then it looked as if the story was finally going to take off. Unfortunately, it never really did. The end left me feeling empty and completely dis-satisfied. I was hoping for an epic story that I could follow throughout a whole trilogy, but instead I was lead down one of the most un-interesting paths I've ever had to follow.
I was contemplating on listening to the third book, just to say I finished the trilogy. However, I'm scared to death that the third book will be just as much as a waste of time as the first two.

Has The Tombs of Atuan turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not in the genre, but certainly from this Author.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can't say that ANY of the scenes were particularly memorable for me.

    "Classic and enchanting masterpiece!"

One of the best stories told from the early era of modern Fantasy writing. Worth every bit of storage space it takes and more to download this audiobook.

Only criticism is the dramatization of Sparrowhawk's voice. Too deep and ponderous.

"Ursula K Le Guin does not it again."

In this the second book in the set in the world of Earth Sea. Ursula K Le Guin does not disappoint. If you liked book 1 you should be happy with book two. Although it goes a little slow till Chapter 4.

    "Pretty good"

Story was pretty good, the narration was great! The only annoying thing with that it had never been converted from a cassette tape and had some positive and asked me to switch sides. This is pretty confusing the first time rounds

"Where's the rest of the story?"
    Any additional comments?

This book rated between 2 and 3 stars for me. It's not because it was badly written, but it's because not much really happened. It was like reading the first 3 chapters of a book, and then having the book end right with you get introduced to the characters and they actually do something. Or it was like reading a short story in an anthology. I'm hoping the 3rd one has a lot more meat to it.

    "Interesting but slow story"

The story of this is interesting but it starts out very slowly, and you spend the first half of the book waiting for the introduction of any characters you know from before. Many pivotal moments are waved over or explained away as having occurred in another time, and where many books discuss the how and why of things, this one just discusses what without any real deepening understanding of the world and how it works.

I was entertained enough by the first book to keep going, but only because I had nothing better going at the time.
