Very Entertaining!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Second Ship to be better than the print version?

Audio books are wonderful but some sound so bad that I cant even listen to them. However, The Second Ship (as well as the others in the series) are excellently read. Reader is clear and does well when acting the different characters. Well done!

Who was your favorite character and why?

This is a tough question. I think I have to include all three kids. They are so closely bound that I cant separate them. While they sometimes seem to lose their perspectives at times, the always have the others at heart when it comes down to it. The book IMO is all about these three people. That's the magic of the story. Everything else is icing :)

Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have also listen to Methuselah's Children read by Andrews. I prefer the Rho Agenda series but that could be just because I enjoyed the books more than Methuselah's Children.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. To be honest the first few chapters were slow (as the often are when setting up a story) but once the story got going, I was hooked.

A quality listen. Sci-Fi fans will enjoy!

The author explores some cutting edge near future ideas, especially in the technology arena. Entertaining, and yet made you think.

Very, very good!

This is a fantastic book! Excellent writing, and second-to-none narration. This story had just the right amount of sci-fi, mixed with really great characters and a tremendous story line. I think this book will appeal to a lot of audiences, and types of readers. Science fiction readers will enjoy it, as well as standard fiction readers and even teens. It has quite a broad appeal. Can't wait to get to the next book in the series!

Fast pace suspense

What did you love best about The Second Ship?

Excellent scifi novel with three teens as the focus. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Builds tension that makes you want to read the second and third parts Immune and Wormhole.

I was pleasantly surprised at this book, finished it and bought the secon one in the series, and it was even better! Now picking up the third book, beware this just keeps getting better.

Great Listen

Where does The Second Ship rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I do not recall when I downloaded this. Listened to it on my ipod while driving. When the book ended, I was very confused. I did not recall that it was book 1 in a three book series. I have since purchased books 2 & 3 in the series. Looking forward to listening to both books. A great listen while I am driving.

I enjoyed this first book, now for the second

I very much enjoyed this first book. My only minor criticism is Mr. Andrews lack of more character voices; while overall his performance was wonderful, I would have wished his different characters had a bit more differences.

A minor issue, all and all a very nice performance.

The book ended before I knew it

This book is excellent, full of wonderful details that fully immerse your mind. I kept finding excuses to do more dishes, yard work, etc so I could listen more. :) And as the subject says, the book ended and I couldn’t believe I had reached the end! Lastly, the narration makes or breaks the audiobook. This narrator was superb! Highly recommend!

Average Young Adult Book

Story moves along ok. Bit Its a bit shallow and predictable. Teen/young adult book.

Surprisingly Great Listen

I was very surprised by this one. I bought it as a daily deal and found it to be very good. The performance was perfect for the book and it was well paced. I definitely recommend this series.
