Good but need to be longer

The story is enjoyable, but is really short. Seemed to be over before it really began.

Absolutely a Stunner!

There's not been very many times in my reading history that a book so surprises me that it takes me a good minute to ratchet my jaw back closed but Rings of Haven did it! From the moment I started the book, I became transfixed and never came back to daily life until the ending had demoed me to reality. It was non stop action with everything! The home planet had a new ship with abilities to guarantee wins over old enemies and with new enemies . They would do anything to capture their ship; crazy pilots; agents sub rosa; tyrants who believe they're God; a bare bones crew with amazing abilities that were stepping up in every conceivable way; and don't forget: the green eyed fem fatale who dispassionately does whatever is necessary to keep the revolutionaries ahead, even murder! Get the book! Don't pass up on an adventure out in the universe!

For Star Trek fans

I am not a Star Trek fan, never really liked its style. I have listened to the first two books of the Frontiers Saga and find them about as exciting as a Star Trek episode, that is not at all. It’s not bad at all, just dull.

Adding Ryk Brown to my list of authors

This is book number two in the Frontier Saga. The Aurora and crew are stranded halfway across the galaxy. From the battles in book one, both ship and crew are badly wounded. They arrange to mine the Rings of Haven with a rental crew, harvester and factory ships, to make money to buy food and ship parts. While some of the key people are on the planet arranging for food, the Ta’Akar warship finds them and is attempting to capture or kill those on the planet and also capture the Aurora.

The book is well written. Brown is continuing to develop the characters in this book. The action is great and the suspense builds throughout the story. The pilot of the harvester ship is not only a great pilot but a real daredevil character that will add excitement to the story. New people are added to the ship that is running short handed. I am looking forward to the next episode. Jeffrey Kafer does a great job narrating the story.

Pretty cool action SF

Pretty cool action SF, it goes smoothly without just enough details and nice development of main characters.

Fun.

A nice easy listen, less than six hours long, which is a welcome respite from the 25 to 30 hour long books I often listen to in the sci-fi/fantasy genre. I got the first two books on sale and will add more of the series to my wish list.

Clueless in space. 😂

Although the characters are likable and well developed, I find myself asking WTF 🤬 often. The level of naivety shown by the male protagonist, and the jealousy and second guessing by the main female protagonist are often annoying and distracting. Their emotional development seemingly far below what I would expect from young adult professionals, even those just starting out.

Although I enjoyed the first two books, I find that the stories might be more appropriate for a YA audience. They are not bad, just somewhat immature. Enjoy!

Second in the Series, Just as Good!

After enjoying the first book in this series, I immediately purchased the second knowing there were a total of 13 additional books waiting to be enjoyed if the writing and narration continued within the high bar set in the first book. I am pleased to say the story and narration have grown beyond the first book and give me confidence in the rest of the series. While admittedly a bit short at just under 6 hours, this book is well worth your time as there is as much action filled within this 6 hours as other books take 10 hours to present.

I haven't enjoyed a series like this since reading The Lost Fleet and look forward to continuing the story with the rest of the series.
