If you can last the first 6 hours, things get better. Some reviewers do crave that minutia; I am more of a Chekhov's gun person. I do wonder, however, in a world where magic is like nature and gravity, if people would spend so much time talking about it, about its peculiarity. We talk about magic because we don't have it.
Wizard Jaldis must have been really difficult for Vance to do; it is hard to enjoy. Maybe Jaldis could have been performed by an old Mac, using MacinTalk.
