Publisher's summary

Tormented her entire life by inhuman voices, Jennsen seeks to end her intolerable agony. She at last discovers a way to silence the voices. For everyone else, the torment is about to begin.

Richard Rahl and his wife, Kahlan, have been reunited after their long separation, but with winter descending and the paralyzing dread of an army of annihilation occupying their homeland, they must venture deep into a strange and desolate land. Their quest turns to terror when they find themselves the helpless prey of a tireless hunter.

Exploited by those intent on domination, Jennsen finds herself drawn into the center of a violent struggle for conquest and revenge. Worse yet, she finds her will seized by dark forces more abhorrent than anything she ever envisioned. Only then does she come to realize that the voices were real.

Staggered by loss and increasingly isolated, Richard and Kahlan desperately struggle to survive. But if they are to live, they must stop the relentless, unearthly threat that comes out of the darkest night of the human soul. To do so, Richard will be called upon to face the demons stalking among the Pillars of Creation.

filler story.

main characters? what main characters? I missed so many of my favorites through out. it was a bridge to another chapter in the story.

2 out of 60 chapters

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The only reason I did not delete this book out of my downloaded library is the same reason I would give as a recommendation: Only listen to this book if you want to see the series through to the end. There were entire chunks of the story that could be summarized in one or two sentences. The whole story involves alternate characters from Richard and Kahlan discovering these two sentences of information. I feel sorry for my OCD friends out there that can't stop until its finished.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Skipped this book in the series

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jim Bond?

The original narrator of the first book "The Sword of Truth"; pretty much any other narrator that records audio books (with the exception of any narrators that do not know how to pronounce "Kahlan")

Do you think The Pillars of Creation needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No...I prologue could sum it up easily

Any additional comments?

Even though I am not OCD, I WILL finish this series. It's my free will...

😍Story just keeps getting better😍

The sword of truth series is just amazing. So well done and thanks to the person reading it, well delivered. Every book ,up to and including the pillars of creation has been an adventure in my imagination and I would recommend it to anyone with an adventurous taste in literature.

A better read than listen

I love this series but this book is a detour. most of the novel follows new characters who while well written are a poor focus for the series. it's like a pilot episode of a show series hidden in another TV series where the original cast doesn't show up until the last 4 minutes
oh no the narrator Jim Bond is boring and monotonous. he drinks one with harshly a cadence change to show emotion, no vocal changes for characters. he reads like he is bored at his job.

Epic fiction or insurance premium

This book needed more time with an editor and also suffers from the blandest of narration. The two combined for a less than fantastic epic fantasy experience. Recommend listening at 1.5x speed to lessen the suffering.

Poor narrator...

Jim Bond sounds like a robot while he reads his lines . Makes the story sound dull when in fact the story is full of suspense.

The terrible installment

The worst book in the series. Just get through it and they are great from here on out.

different from others

this book is very different than the others, Richard and Kaylan are not the main focus. but the end brings it all together.
