Publisher's summary

Tormented her entire life by inhuman voices, Jennsen seeks to end her intolerable agony. She at last discovers a way to silence the voices. For everyone else, the torment is about to begin.

Richard Rahl and his wife, Kahlan, have been reunited after their long separation, but with winter descending and the paralyzing dread of an army of annihilation occupying their homeland, they must venture deep into a strange and desolate land. Their quest turns to terror when they find themselves the helpless prey of a tireless hunter.

Exploited by those intent on domination, Jennsen finds herself drawn into the center of a violent struggle for conquest and revenge. Worse yet, she finds her will seized by dark forces more abhorrent than anything she ever envisioned. Only then does she come to realize that the voices were real.

Staggered by loss and increasingly isolated, Richard and Kahlan desperately struggle to survive. But if they are to live, they must stop the relentless, unearthly threat that comes out of the darkest night of the human soul. To do so, Richard will be called upon to face the demons stalking among the Pillars of Creation.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Sword of Truth series.

book is a filler, and not extremely needed in the series. voice actor isn't quite sure how sentences work.

Graphic violence

I’ve enjoyed all of these books so far but in this one I found myself disturbed and skipping past the graphic descriptions of violence. I’m generally not squeamish, but this was beyond the pale, so much so that although I’ve never posted before I felt compelled to do so.

a little different

this book went most of the way through with brand new characters, which I had mixed feelings about. I missed Richard and Kalin, but I was starting to get a little tired of them getting into similar trouble all the time. Happy to see more new characters, abd it wrapped up nicely!

Excellent story

Loved the story but wish they would pick a different picture for the book cover.

Why did they have this guy do another book?

Great series but this guy is the worst narrator! You'd think after how awful the 2nd book was they wouldn't have asked him to do another one

Pillars of Creation

This book has a slow start introducing more characters in the sword of truth series. once these characters are built the story continues bringing in the new characters to the plot.

Repetitive

The only issue I had with it was how it is so repetitive to explain things over and over. I don't know how many times it explains the situation over and over, but it does become cumbersome to listen to.
