Publisher's summary

An accident leads to the discovery of a mysterious machine that has rested hidden deep underground for countless millennia. The machine awakens to begin issuing a series of increasingly alarming, if minor, omens. The omens turn out to be astonishingly accurate, and ever more ominous. As Zedd tries to figure out how to destroy the sinister device, the machine issues a cataclysmic omen involving Richard and Kahlan, foretelling an impending event beyond anyone’s ability to stop. As catastrophe approaches, the machine then reveals that it is within its power to withdraw the omen... In exchange for an impossible demand.

Thirsty reader!

The frequent gulping was distracting. Other readers don't have this problem or the audio is properly edited to remove the gulping noises.

My favorite series!

Sam Tsoutsouvas' performance really brought this story to life. I've read the series before but decided I liked it enough to listen to someone tell it to me. I won't stop until I've heard them all.

Kara and Benjamin!!!!

Story: This book definitely hit way different than the rest of the series. There were still threats against Richard and everybody who stood with him. It was a lot happier and not as morbid at least. Not saying it wasn't morbid at all. Kara and Benjaman get married before the start of the novel. Which is unheard of. No Mord Sith has ever married before. Not going to lie, I was kind of hoping to be able to see the wedding itself. At least we got to see the wedding party.
Characters: All of the characters were as amazing as ever. I would have loved to see more of Nicci and Kara in this book. They were around, but they were more in the background than anything. I also really want to see more of Benjamin. If he is good enough to be married to my beloved Kara, then he's good enough to shine more in the story.
Critiques: None
Narration: The narrator was as good in this novel as he has been in the other novels.
Final Thoughts: I'm really curious to see how this part of the series goes. I want to see if Richard is able to overcome things like he has in the past. On the same note, I'm also just kind of annoyed. I mean that in a good way. Can't people just leave Richard alone???? Let him be happy!

Big upset

I am such a big fan of this series and this book is very upsetting. A little slow and boring. Story line could have been much better. Lets see how the next one is.

A shift in the story

First off stop letting this guy narrate. Second it’s hard to get behind this cause after so many books the story shifted. I see the reason for the bad reviews. But take it for what it is. I mean come on folks the title is OMEN machine. I for one am excited to see where it goes from here. Yet again, Terry Goodkind has done it.

Why did the characters int go way down

It does seem like a totally different writer since The Confessor ended the series pretty much. The characters in this seem totally stupid in their intellect. Especially if you have read the series til now.

Excellent story

The series has been an excellent blend of love, magic and mystery. I would have enjoyed it a bit more if there were a little more drama.
