Publisher's summary

An accident leads to the discovery of a mysterious machine that has rested hidden deep underground for countless millennia. The machine awakens to begin issuing a series of increasingly alarming, if minor, omens. The omens turn out to be astonishingly accurate, and ever more ominous. As Zedd tries to figure out how to destroy the sinister device, the machine issues a cataclysmic omen involving Richard and Kahlan, foretelling an impending event beyond anyone’s ability to stop. As catastrophe approaches, the machine then reveals that it is within its power to withdraw the omen... In exchange for an impossible demand.

Was a great listen.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Omen Machine to be better than the print version?

No never, only because I believe truly you get more out of reading than listening. Nothing against narrators. When you read yourself you also have the advantage of bringing the book to life at your own pace using your own imagination. Making characters sound the way you wish it, sometimes listening to others interpret the book tarnishes your own impressions.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Omen Machine?

I do not wish to spoil it for others but I always cherish when Zedd is proud of Richard much like my Grandfather use to for me.

Have you listened to any of Sam Tsoutsouvas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have and the only thing I really didn't like before is the pronunciation of Nicci. I understand each narrator will have their own style and no one can fault them for that. However I believe the pronunciation of at least proper names should be consistent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I do smile often when I am able to discover the scheme of things before they are uncovered only because I have come to know the characters individually which only brings testament to Terry's ability to make people come to life.

Any additional comments?

I lot of people were upset over the longevity of the book with no plot. My only advice is to reread(listen) to the book once more like I have the others and you will find each time hints you missed before. This will help with understand how Richard comes to the conclusions.

Terry has a wonderful way of making magic both special and ordinary. Not every problems is solved with magic and sometimes magic is the problem.

Also some readers can't believe people are this stupid. If you haven't run into people of so low of caliber consider yourself lucky. I engage in such people everyday.

I hope I didn't ruin the book be exposing anything that should not have. It really is a good book that deserves the patience required to really receive the plot in whole.

Too Short

I enjoyed listened to a Richard and Kahlan Novel without the gruesomeness of a war going on. The constant war in the last books went on for far too long. The characters in these novels are fantastic! The book just seemed too short. I was very dissapointed when it ended.

Prophecy must be heeded

The leaders of the Midlands gathered in the People's Palace wish for prophecy to be heeded and wish that Richard and Kahlan would allow prophecy to lead them as well. Meanwhile Hannis Arc the leader of the remote Faijin Provence in D'Hara is plotting revenge against the House of Rahl with the aid of a Hedge Witch named Jitt. Richard discovers The Omen Machine after the sky falls in. Is the omen machine evil or just been exploited by evil people. Another great performance by Sam Tsoutsouvas and while The Omen Machine by Terry Goodkind is not as good as The Sword of Truth books it is still an enjoyable and fantastic read.

A Classic

This series is truly one of the best fantasy series ever conceived. The themes are very strong. The story has depth and meaning. The world is fairly unique. The action is riveting.

I spent three-quarters of the book wishing Goodkind had let these characters rest in peace, but by the end, I was glad to see the adventure continue.

Doesn't really fit

I am a fan of Mr. Goodkind and I really wanted this book to be great but it doesn't really fit in the Sword of Truth series anymore than the television show fit the Sword of Truth series.
This book is still better than many of the genre it is not what I would have expected to this author. It does have all the necessary components for a quality book I am a bit disappointed that Terry Goodkind let this one go to the editor as it is. It has a good beat but you can't dance to it.

Not his best work.

I’ll keep this short, the story drag on too long, the characters did not act like themselves and Richard repeated himself far too many times. I love many of his books but this one, was immensely disappointing.

name have been changed for their safety

I dis like that the reader pronounce the characters names differently from the other books.
