Publisher's Summary

Robert V. S. Redick brings his acclaimed fantasy series Chathrand Voyage to a triumphant close that merits comparison to the work of such masters as George R. R. Martin, Philip Pullman, and J. R. R. Tolkien himself.

The evil sorcerer Arunis is dead, yet the danger has not ended. For as he fell, beheaded by the young warrior-woman Thasha Isiq, Arunis summoned the Swarm of Night, a demonic entity that feasts on death and grows like a plague. If the Swarm is not destroyed, the world of Alifros will become a vast graveyard. Now Thasha and her comrades - the tarboy Pazel Pathkendle and the mysterious wizard Ramachni - begin a quest that seems all but impossible.

Yet there is hope: One person has the power to stand against the Swarm: the great mage Erithusmé. Long thought dead, Erithusmé lives, buried deep in Thasha's soul. But for the mage to live again, Thasha Isiq may have to die.

"Great books but the lousiest ending ever!!!"

I have listened to these books for hours, and they have kept my interest every second, the characters were great and the bad guys get killed. But the ending was the worst, I kept waiting for Thasha to show up and instead Pazel ends up in the sea with the fish chick!! What the hell!! His friends don't remember him, only the rat!! Wow I can't believe how disappointed I am. The narration was great, Michael Page is terrific, I buy almost everything he narrates.

"A sweeping story comes to an amazing ending!"
If you could sum up The Night of the Swarm in three words, what would they be?

Robert V. S. Redick's Chathrand Voyage series had to end sometime and somewhere but who but the author could have sailed us to this amazing conclusion. Thet magic in the series was first and foremost in his writing, but also in the many characters, places and plot twists. With a similar scope to LOTR but with even better descriptions of land and situations not necessarily derivative of Authorian folklore he sails us over the far horizon and into new and truly magical lands!

What did you like best about this story?

The characters are so 3 dimensional, they are now part of my life, forever to be remembered even if originally just imagined! Also to call his writing clever is to label Einstein 'above average!'

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Too many to count, far too many. But how ordinary people could be swept along by circumstances but emerge as extraordinary heros, that is a fundamental of great and enduring literature.

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait for his next book!

"Riveting!! Non-stop adventure. Can we have more?"
Where does The Night of the Swarm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

since I've listened to over 1250 audio books and mostly in fantasy, I would rank Redick's Chathrand series as in my top ten percent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Night of the Swarm?

so many, probably the dialogue, love and committment of the two young lovers

Have you listened to any of Michael Page’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and as usual, he was superb

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the end, I hated it. I was so disappointed. Made feel meloncholy. But hey, it was only fiction.

    Any additional comments?

I'm a sap, what can I say. I wanted a sappy ending not a tragedy of a kind.

"Dissappointed, but still a fan or Redick!"
Would you be willing to try another book from Robert V. S. Redick? Why or why not?

I will certainly read/listen to more books by Redick. His previous books were great, this one, however, did not live up to those same standards.

Do you think The Night of the Swarm needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, the story of Pazel and friends has been concluded.

    Any additional comments?

While I am a big fan of the first three books in this series, this one just seemed forced. There was a lot of worry/nervousness among the characters only to have the major issues solved almost instantly. I feel that the story advancement throughout this novel was limited and the series could have been concluded in book 3.

"A stunning conclusion of the series"
What did you love best about The Night of the Swarm?

I loved the way people are not simple how they have to make the difficult choices.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Night of the Swarm?

When Pazel realise that everybody has forgotten him.

Which character – as performed by Michael Page – was your favorite?

Michael Page performs all characters equally good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes it was.

    Any additional comments?

I loved the story and Michael Page enhanced it even more with his voice.
