I met Jamie Fraser when I was 19 years old. He was tall, redheaded, and, at our first meeting at least, a virgin. I fell in love hard, fast, and completely. He knew how to ride a horse, wield a sword, and stitch a wound. He was, in fact, the perfect man. That he was fictional hardly entered into it.

Read this many years ago
I read this book and paperback 20 years ago. In listening to it on audible, I realized how much of it I had forgotten. Loved it when I read it the first time, loved it more the second.

The book is a very good read
What did you love best about The Mists of Avalon?
One has to enjoy the Celtic Stories and have an interest in them. The Mist of Avalon is the first book of a series. Try to read them in numerical order. The author spins a very GOOD STORY. I don't remember how many pages, but an unabridged audio is the way to go.
What other book might you compare The Mists of Avalon to and why?
At this time, I can honestly say that each author that writes about the Celts, Irish, and the Briton's bring their own story. If one would like to start out and just dig in try Stephen Lawhead's The Pendragon Cycle. One gets to see the different characters. Morgan Llewellyn's books of Celtic Myths is a good way to start. If I am not mistaken, these three are from Ireland or Scotland, possibly Great Britain.

Fantastic
I usually enjoy most Camelot based stories. By far this is my favorite. The story line is unique and most enjoyable. The performance is outstanding. Because of the length (which is a positive feature) I had difficulty stopping and doing those things that are part of my normal life.
This will always remain one of the top favorites of my Audible Books.

Well done!
Bradley accomplished something truly wonderful with this novel. She recreated a world and characters so vividly that we could escape our own reality, and join them. Each character is unique and the voices and thoughts ring true from their youth to old age. Davina Porter's performance is flawless. I've never enjoyed an audio book as much as this one. I will listen again and again. And I will never again look into the mist without a smile of longing for the magical world it may be hiding from my eyes.
