If you love J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, then you know that all of the events of the story would be impossible without the half-Elf Elrond. Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell, lived in Middle-earth from the First Age to the beginning of the Fourth Age. It was with the help of Elrond that the evil Sauron was defeated and alliances were forged. Elrond is one of the most prominent characters throughout Tolkien's stories. But who is he and what is his story?

Magnificent!

Please refer to my in depth review of all three books on The Return of the King. These audio book renditions are beyond amazing.

Fantastic production!

First class production with some of the best actors of their time. I read the books and had already formed images in my mind. Unlike film productions like this keep intact what you have imagined as you read the books.
A fantastic production whether you've read the books or not. Definitely recommend!

Excellent, more of the same like the first part

Great performance of the cast, if you know the earlier 2 adaptation of the novels you should know what to expect.

Still kinda sad it wasn't the full novel by this cast which would have been even more awesome. In summary I'd say it covers the key events of the books and will give someone without prior knowledge a good and mostly complete experience.

Great story, wonderful performance!

Overall,
the story was great and the people that voiced the characters really brought the story to life. At times the story moved fast and I lost tract of what was happening but I still think the performance was wonderful.

Nicely Dramatised

I've read the triligy several times and love the unabridged work, however this dramatised version has very good voices and pace. I don't care for the singing, but I tend to fast forward through that and it's just part of the story.

Enjoyable but at times confusing

Enjoyed the audio but cringed at some of the music. It can get really odd at times. I sometimes had difficulty figuring out who was talking to whom since you have to identify the characters by voice.

if you like listening to books, don't miss this.

The whole book was wonderfully performed. It answered so many questions. "Return of the King" is my all time favorite movie.
