Publisher's summary

They say that the Thorn of Camorr can beat anyone in a fight. They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning.

He steals from the rich - they're the only ones worth stealing from - but the poor can go steal for themselves. What Locke cons, wheedles and tricks into his possession is strictly for him and his band of fellow con-artists and thieves: the Gentleman Bastards. Together their domain is the city of Camorr. Built of Elderglass by a race no-one remembers, it's a city of shifting revels, filthy canals, baroque palaces, and crowded cemeteries. Home to Dons, merchants, soldiers, beggars, cripples, and feral children. And to Capa Barsavi, the criminal mastermind who runs the city.

Wild ride through and through

Great characters, big heists and rude language. Not only good a fantasy book, but also a overall good book.

Addictive and funny

I've read/listened to quite a few epic fantasy titles and this book is easily one of my favourites. The plot was not predictable leaving me with always wanting to know what happens next. The dialogue is clever and funny. I literally laughed out loud many times. The language is colourful and the cussing is original. The narration was perfect, I thought.

Excellent storytelling

I can't remember the last time I felt so invested in the characters of a novel, feeling seething loathing for some of them, desperately wishing I could skip to the last few pages to see if justice was done. I didn't immediately get into this book but it was very much worth the time. Excellent narration in this audio version.

Fun, character - driven story

The characters really sold the story, and made me continously eager to see what would happen to each and every one of them.
The violence could be a bit too graphic at times and I think the tone was not quite right at the end, but I had a very good time with it and look forward to reading more from the same author.

Absolutely fantastic story!

It's the type of story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great character building and a plot that keeps you guessing. Definitely one of my favourites!
