The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Story
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Once upon a time, the kingdoms of Wales were rife with magic and conflict, and eighteen-year-old Mererid “Mer” is well-acquainted with both. She is the last living water diviner and has spent years running from the prince who bound her into his service. Under the prince’s orders, she located the wells of his enemies, and he poisoned them without her knowledge, causing hundreds of deaths. After discovering what he had done, Mer went to great lengths to disappear from his reach. Then Mer’s old handler returns with a proposition: use her powers to bring down the very prince that abused them both.

captivating.
This was my first foray into the tales of Geralt of Rivia, and I do not regret it one bit. The story is well written, suspenseful and engaging. the characters diverse, colorful and relatable. The voice acting in this audiobook captures the tone and emotion of the narrative perfectly, and portrays the characters superbly and believably.

Great Listen
Enchanting listen. I did find the hop around around towards the second half of the story a bit hard to keep up with. I'm not usually the type of person that struggles with multi stories, plot breaks, or even twists or time line fast forwards or flash backs but I had to rewind and re-listen twice to figure out where things fit. Other than that it was quite an action packed, plot twisting, heart wrenching -- must read.

Narrator is hard to hear
His normal voice is hard to hear. So I turn the volume up. And then when he acts out different and particularly higher pitched voices it’s way too loud. Very frustrating because the book itself is great!

Great Intro to the Witcher
The narrator gave a wonderful performance. His accents and voice choices for the various characters brought them to life.
The story itself was great for a introduction to the Witcher series. However, if you prefer a linear story this is not it.

Played the Witcher 3 video game first.
Played the Witcher 3 video game first and thought I would give this audible book a try. I was not disappointed! The book was great and I thought there was great consistency between the platforms. Plus, several of the background stories were explained and now so many more things make sense. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you enjoyed playing Witcher 3, there's a great chance you may also like this book.

Amazing!
Credit is due to so many sources for this masterpiece. I must first say that the narrator's performance was the best performance I have yet listened to from Audible. Stunning. So much character, and so well timed. The translation of the book was flawless. It feels to me as if it were written in English by someone who has been published many times. of course, the source material from the books author was very good and enlightening. I love this audio book. I adore it's presentation.

Great book.
I very much enjoyed this book. It made me appreciate the video games even more. Now I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books and getting a better understanding of the characters in the game The Withcher 3 Wild Hunt.
