    "Really Good"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Last Threshold to be better than the print version?

Good story. As were all in this series. Finishes up the story and sets up well for The Sundering. Drizt will finally gets on with his life. Only been waiting 100 plus years.

Have you listened to any of Victor Bevine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Most of his voices for the characters were all the same 2, with almost no difference at all. But the author makes it clear who say talking and doing what.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Did I laugh or cry? Laughed a few times, no crying in Faerun. Was entertained in every chapter.

    Any additional comments?

I like the smell of book print. i just sit and sniff the books, over and over again. I wish audible would add that smell to their voice overs. Its 2013 for gods sake. But thanks for the audio books, i never learned how to read.

What about Victor Bevine’s performance did you like?

First audio book I've listened to. Gave me what I expected.

    Any additional comments?

As with other reviewers, I will admit the ending leaves the reader wanting more. Overall, the story is well written.

I love to read and since 2011 I have been mostly listening to audiobooks because oftentimes there is nothing like a good narrator.

    "The legend fizzled away"

I agree with another reviewer, Tom from CA, in that the author seems to have lost interest in the Drizzt Character. He does seem like he wanted to wrap this up and finish it.

Mini-Spoiler Alert- I'm going to try and stay away from some details so I don't ruin this for those who have not read this book but some things I can't help but mention. Please, be warned. The book started out a little slow and it never really sped up. The action scenes always left me wanting a little more which can be a good thing but the author never delivered. I read page after page trying to figure out where everything was going but I just couldn't. The mother-son storyline was cliche in the extreme between Dalia and Effron the Broken Tiefling. It was easily predictable where that storyline would lead. The Drizzt, Entreri, and Dalia triangle was more of an obtuse rhombus and if my description there doesn't make sense then I succeeded in showing exactly how that "triangle" led nowhere and made no sense. Sorry for that.

I have enjoyed Salvatore's writing style and his Drizzt books for years and even if I wasn't interested in the story specifics themselves, Salvatore was always able to pull me in and keep me turning pages. He is that good a writer and storyteller. This time it seems his heart just wasn't in it. I was very interested in the Regis and Cattie-Brie teasers but they ended up going nowhere. The ending was just like a flooded back yard that slowly just drained and faded away. If this is to be the end of Drizzt Du'Orden, and it is by no means clear that this is the end, then he met quite the sad ending. Again, to be clear, I can't even tell you if this was the end of Drizzt, that was how unclear it was. I was forced to go back and re-read the advertising for this book to make sure it was the end of the series and sadly it was.

The ending timeline was perfect for ending this book in 1,000 different directions but I am dissappointed in the way the author chose Drizzt to go.

I am very happy that at least Artemis Entreri isn't dead or even close to it. I hope he comes back in a trilogy all his own someday. He is one of my favorite characters and I don't want to see him go.

    "Salvatore is worn out"

Obviously, the Drizzt saga had to come to an end at some point, and this is that end. As an avid follower of the series for many years, I enjoyed the book, but I felt like it was more of a review of previous material, rather than anything new. The first half of the book is basically reflection, and the picks up later on.

It's worth a listen, but don't expect dazzling story telling or wild, new adventures.

    "Disappointing"

Narrator was not very good, whispered too much, character voices were too few. Author has clearly lost interest in the Drizzt series, story was disjointed and confusing, ending was rushed.

"STOP HIRIING VICTOR BEVINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUS"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

i would recommend reading it yourself. a decent book (though definitely not salvatore's best) if you can ignore the different format than all his other Drizzt books (a lot of jumping around, bunny trails that get forgotten about, a denoumont that seems to last forever), but it does at least have an ending, and there are many good parts. i feel the need to campaign against every audio book that is read by Victor Bevine, though. every book of his has me gritting my teeth, rolling my eyes, & taking deep breaths to calm my agitation. this idiot not only mispronounces a few common words (that are frequently used), but his voices for almost all the the numerous characters is the same talentless ridiculous attempt: the stereotypical big dumb henchman. yeah, that doesn't work for most of the characters... at all. sometimes he really pours it on, and i literally have to stop whatever it is i am doing to either laugh out loud or clench my fists in irritation. and what he really does the worst is try to sound out laughter. "bwahahaha" is NOT, I REPEAT NOT MEANT TO BE PRONOUNCED LIKE AN EXOTIC FIRST NAME. AND "bah" is NOT MEANT TO BE USED LIKE THE TITLE "mom". how wonderful it is, then, that Salvatore uses those two iterations CONSTANTLY THROUGHOUT THE LAST 7 BOOKS!!! AND WE HAVE TO SUFFER THROUGH THIS IMBECILE HACK as he murders almost every bit of character dialogue in the entire series!!! WHO KEEPS HIRING THIS GUY?!?!?! STOP!!! listen to some of his work, first. he DOES have a great speaking voice, when he is just reading the action, so he would make a great narrator for a romance novel, perhaps, but not for anything fantasy or sci-fi, or anything that has unusual or boisterous character work.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

once the end FINALLY arrived, i was partly surprised. but hey, it had to arrive at this conclusion eventually, and it was fitting who it happened by, in some regards.

What three words best describe Victor Bevine’s performance?

    IDIOT. HACK. TALENTLESS.

Did The Last Threshold inspire you to do anything?

it inspired me to make more time in my schedule to be able to read for myself. unfortunately i have a ton of available listening time for audio books, but less than negative zero time to actually flip the pages myself. when there is a good narrator, this is great. but when there is a BAD narrator, it is quite aggravating. sadly, many of the books i have gotten are trilogies or quadrilogies, and the same narrator is hired for the entire set and, more sadly, a bad one has been hired for most of them, somehow.

    Any additional comments?

in this book, salvatore's favorite word seems to be "incredulous." no, really... count how many times he uses it. its kind of funny...
