Publisher's summary

Audie Award Nominee, Original Work, 2013

Six months ago, the world ended. The Baugh Contagion swept across the planet. Its victims were left twitching, adrenalized cannibals that quickly became know as Junkies. Civilization crumbled as people created isolated safe havens to hide from the infected... and the possibly infected. Now, as society nears a tipping point, lives will intersect and intertwine across two days in a desolate city.

The Junkie Quatrain is four tales of survival, and four types of post-apocalypse story, because the end of the world means different things for different people. Loss. Opportunity. Hope. Or maybe just another day on the job.

Get down in junkie town

It is four stories about post apocalyptic California. At some point each story intersects.I love the way the story unfolds. You get information from different points of view so you learn more in each story Very entertaining. It was short so I listened to it twice so I could pick up on more things. I enjoy Peter. Clines. The narration was very good too.I bought it on sale I thought it was fabulous.

Wow, like everyone said its good

Got it for $1.95 during a deal, if its still on, get it. At its regular price I'd still get it, now that I know how good it is.

As others have said, the stories cross paths, and because of that, it felt line a real book. So you feel like its a real book until the end when it, well, just ends when you thought it should go back to one of the other stories. Except they played music so you knew it wasn't coming.

I wish all books had both male and female narrators!

The zombies are more of the infected kind, not completely dumb and at least try to run.

Perked my interest in Peters other books, Ex-Heroes series which I have previously thought completely "no".

Awesome. I only wish this was longer.

Great story, great narration. I only wish this had been developed into a series. Peter CLines has done it again.

I WANT MORE!

The Junkie Quatrain by Peter Clines narrated by Christian Rummel and Therese Plummer. I just listened to this one last night in one sitting. I have really enjoyed branching out into the post apocalyptic zombie books lately. That being said there are good ones and bad ones. This book was really good. I would love to see it turned into a series or at least a full length novel. The narration is great and the stories flow and intertwine easily. This is one of the books that leaves you wanting more. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining quick read.

Interesting zombie story with multiple angles

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if you really enjoy the zombie genre or stories where multiples characters paths cross.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had some 'o, wow, cool' moments when I realized some of the plot points.

Any additional comments?

Not the best story, but still interesting, was left wanting more at some parts.

Entertaining for what it is

Don’t expect any great character development or story, go into this with the same expectations you’d have turning on a Romero zombie flick. Personally I enjoyed the performances more than the stories themselves, but they were still entertaining to listen to. I would only get this if you have credits burning a hole in your pocket or you see it for sale.

I'll definitely be listening to The Junkie Quatrain again. The stories are well-paced, interesting, and have an interconnected structure that will play well with additional listens.

I really enjoy Peter Clines originality and plausible take on an old genre.

What about Christian Rummel and Therese Plummer ’s performance did you like?

Both Christian Rummel and Therese Plummer brought a depth of inflection and nuance to their performances that really allows you to hear the individual character's voices, thoughts, and feelings.

good, but you can tell it's early work

when compared to the Ex-Heroes series or 14, this one is good, but not as good. or maybe it's just that I'm not much of a short story fan
