Publisher's summary

Earth does not exist.... Or so they want you to believe. Who are they? What do they want? And who do they think they are?

They are the Voltarians of Voltar - an empire 110 planets strong.

They are already among us. And the invasion is about to begin...in a hundred years or so. Or is it?

The truth is far more sinister. Undercover, underground, and out of sight, the invaders plan what may in fact be a massive diversion. In the darkest recesses of Voltar’s Coordinated Information Apparatus (otherwise known as the CIA), a tyrant of terror sets out to exploit the invasion in order to seize power. All that stands in his way is a planet that doesn’t exist.

Discover a world where corporations rule and political corruption is rife. Where governments are driven by oil and controlled by drugs. Where global warming is getting hotter by the minute...and a scorching love affair could determine the fate of millions. Where a cosmic conspiracy is about to hit home and the intergalactic intrigue knows no bounds.

They call it Blito-P3. We call it Earth.

You can’t afford to look the other way. It’s the end of the world as you know it...and the beginning of one of the most spectacular, thought-provoking, and wildly inventive works of science fiction and espionage of our time.

“You will lose sleep. You will miss appointments. If you don’t force yourself to set it down and talk to your family from time to time, you may be looking for a new place to live. Reading The Invaders Plan is simply the most fun you can have by yourself.” (Orson Scott Card)

overly abridged

This recording is not the whole book. It is overly abridged, important details completely missing. It flows well, but misses character and setting development.

Read in the style of the prose...

Hubbard's dekalogy is a slapstick, tickle-in-the-ribs-until-they-faint- from-laughter triumph. This recording mimics the feel of the original story. The abridgers have done a marvelous job of cutting off the fat and leaving the muscle of the story. This is a marvelous romp and a madcap commentary on the human race. Installment 1 happens on an alien planet, but one that is enough like home that the listener will be able to pick up and follow the plot without a problem. If you are looking for wonderful diversion, pick this up. If you are looking for humorous commentary on the human condition, pick this up. If you are looking for serious reflection on the state of the planet, look elsewhere. This is nothing but rib-tickling entertainment.

Love it

Just wish it was the unabridged version. Over way too quickly. Other than that, good job

Would you listen to The Invaders Plan again? Why?

Yes, of course. I've read the book a number of times over the years and now listening to it has made it even more addictive.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Heller is my favorite character. Nothing can shake him and despite an environment filled with sharks and crocodiles he walks safe, because his purpose is good.

Which scene was your favorite?

Hard to pick one. The whole book is one favorite scene after another.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It intrigued and enthralled me, paralleling this society it's fascinating.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to listen to the rest of the series.

Just the best!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I loved this whole story, whenever I have a question about life, I just ask myself, What would Jettero Heller do?

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Invaders Plan?

There were so many, and it is the best science fiction series I have ever read, or listened to! But to be fair, the innocence of the main hero Jettero.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene with Jettero, getting in a fight in the bar, while Sultan makes fun of what he calls Jettero's stupidity and bravery.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Mission Earth of Coarse! Why fool with perfection.

Any additional comments?

Love the whole series, and the deep meanings having to do with our so called culture.

Rate the Book, Not the Author's Personal Beliefs

As with most of L Ron's Science Fiction, this one is amusing. The "science" is about as "real" as that found in Buck Rogers, but the story and characters are fun.

Don't let any preconceptions about outside issues prevent you from enjoying this satiric romp - that goes for the entire Mission Earth series, not just this one book.

Difference of opinion after a decade

For some reason I remember reading this whole series of books in Hight School (I did my Senior Thesis paper on Mr. Hubbard) and loving them. Now a little more than a decade later I find the book ok. Could have done without the sound effects. Still a great commentary on our society that is still true today. Get it for a laugh at the human race in general.
