Publisher's summary

Even vampires need a vacation. But Decker Argeneau’s ends abruptly when he’s asked to help hunt the group of rogue vampires targeting mortals—one that might include a defector in his own family. Before he can worry about that, though, he’s got to rescue the latest victim. It’s all part of the job, including taking a bullet for a beautiful doctor.InsatiableDr. Danielle McGill doesn’t know if she can trust the man who just saved her life.

There are too many questions, such as what is the secret organization he says he’s part of, and why do his wounds hardly bleed? However, with her sister in the hands of some dangerous men, she doesn’t have much choice but to trust him.

Except now Decker’s talking about life mates and awakening a passion that’s taking Dani beyond anything she’s ever known. Being undead may not be half-bad . . .especially if it means spending forever with a man who would love her with his mind, body, and immortal soul.

Loved the story but the Narrator almost killed it!

I would have loved to give this book a higher rating but the narrator's voice really ticked me off. I love this series but her monotone voice made me think of listening to technical manuals. Her voice is not made for romance. Reminded me of computer generated voices.

Rick Robertson's voice was perfect for Rogue Hunter and Vampires are Forever. I was disappointed he did not narrate this book too. Please go back to him!!! Stick to one narrator for an entire series. It definitely makes the reading/listening more enjoyable.

My least favorite of the series

I've LOVED this series, however this has to be my least favorite. After reading (ok listening) to the 1st 10 books, you pretty much know each book has a sub-plot of an immortal finding his/her lifemate with an interesting main plot (or is it the other way around?) usually involving some mystery, and this book is no different.

But the main story is extreamly dark, and consequently, I found disturbing. The main story includes such disturbing issues as kidnap, murder, torcher, suggested rape, and mental rape. Now I'm not saying a story can't be good if they include such topics, after all we are talking about a vampire series here, but as a reviewer of this story (and series in general) I'm just saying it was MY least favorite due to the violent nature of this book. I also hated what Leo (the villian) did to Dani's and her sister (but can't say more or it'd be a spoiler, but I'll just say it has something to do with teeth).

The book concluded with some pretty major unanswered questions, but this isn't the first time the author has done this in the series, and she always wraps things up in subsequent books. On a more positive note, the book is lightly sprinkled with the author's usual brand of humor, and has the enticing suspense and romance I've come to appreciate from the series.

Victoria McGee is my least favorite narrator of the series, but she's kind of grown on me, this is the 5th book she's done in the series. She gives her usual "breathy waaaay over the top sexy-sultry" voice as she's reading, but has toned it down a bit (thank God), and her charater voices are usually pretty good.

If I had read a review like mine before purchasing this book, I'd still have purchased it, but if you haven't listened to the 1st 10 books, don't judge the series by THIS book!!

Love Lynsay, Hate robotic narrators!

I love Lynsay Sands but the narrator on this book drove me nuts! She sounds like a robot and half the time her inflections sounds like questions instead of the statements they are supposed to be. Gah, that's so frustrating, were is the guy from the last book?

Love book, dislike narrator

The narrator was so irritating that I almost stopped listening after just a few minutes. I'm glad I finished, because I enjoyed the book. Her voice sounds just like the telephone options menu voice, "please listen carefully as our options have changed."

Great book. Terrible narration.

Dear Lord. I am so disappointed with this narrator and apparently she narrates several of the Argeneau books, which is sad, because the books themselves are very good. Funny, sexy, and the hunter books have intriguing story lines.

But this Victoria McGee should NOT be narrating fiction!!! She's horrible at it. She sounds like Siri on my phone. Awfully monotonewith pauses mid sentence or word even. And there are even places where the editor missed where she repeats phrases. I would never have used a credit if I had realized this book was narrated by this person. And it's frustrating because I LOVE these books!! I have the all in hard copy and wanted them all on audio, but not if she is the one reading them. This narrator should only be reading technical manuals. And even then, I would not listen to her. What a disappointment!!

Wooden narration

I enjoyed the story but the narrator’s voice had no inflection or emotion. I’ve not listened to this narrator before and hope they change to another person.

Decker & Danielle Story !

Would you try another book from Lynsay Sands and/or Victoria McGee?

Yes to Lynsay Sands but I didn't enjoy Victoria MCGee.....Kirby Heyborne is much better.

What did you like best about this story?

I am enjoying this series just VM puts you off ......

Would you listen to another book narrated by Victoria McGee?

I finds Lynsay's books light and fun. I love the family connections and the interweaving in the stories.

Do you think The Immortal Hunter needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Too breathy and not enough difference too monolog. You need enthusiasm not monolog.
You want to feel the romance and the excitement. Sorry but it is very off putting especially
when I was looking forward to Deckers story....

Any additional comments?

I still like he series some times when you find a good narrator its better to stick with him or her....

A Winner in the Series

I've read and/or listened to all the books in this series. When talking to my book loving friends, I refer to the books in the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter series as "Vampire Lite" or "Harlequin with Fangs". This book broke that mold, and I must say, I was happier for it. I read dark vampire (and other paranormal) books frequently, and I enjoy them. I was using this series for a bit of a break from the often dark, sometimes tormented souls often found in the paranormal genre. A bit of fluffy paranormal HEA was nice every now and again. This book, however, wasn't fluffy. I didn't mind one bit, perhaps because the author proved that she could stray from her comfort zone and still entertain me. I personally thought the narrator did a decent job. Perhaps not the best I've heard, but far from the worst. All in all, I'd have to say this book is my favorite in the series thus far. I like being surprised, and just when I thought Ms Sands didn't have any surprises up her sleeve, she jumped out and bit me!

Great Book

This is a awesome book and one of the better ones in the series. The narrators is good, a little breathy but still she distinguishes between the character well.
