Publisher's Summary

In the months following the Awakening, Christian's group of survivors grows, but they are still outnumbered by the hordes of zombies and scabs plaguing the world. With their security at risk, they must move to safer ground.

When Christian and Boomer get separated from the group, Christian is caught in a life or death struggle forcing him to reveal his immunity and hope he can trust the one person who knows his secret.

After Fish leads a daring rescue to save a group of specialists, they discover the origin of the virus and a plan is forged to get them to the Hoover Dam. New hope is on the horizon until a betrayal within the camp threatens not only Christian's life, but the lives of all humanity.

In book two of The Hunt Chronicles, Christian makes a revelation: He may be immune to the virus, but he is not immune to the monsters which dwell in all of us.

"I need the rest of the series to be out soon!"

If you’re a big Zombie fan I think you’re going to like this series and this story as a whole. Its FULL of zombie action and great writing which really connects you and makes you feel like you’re part of the action, so it might be best not to eat on a full stomach. The characters continue their story, along with a few new additions, and no one is safe (except Christian because he’s writing the story) and the body count, both dead and undead, piles up fast.

I really wanted to rate this higher, but there was one big issue I had. I like where the overall story is going but for most of this book I kept asking myself “where is THIS BOOK going?” For long stretches I felt like the book was just a story of a group of survivors and we would never find out how Christian ended up on the roof (we still don’t know) which frustrated me quite a bit. However, the final 20% of the book really wrapped up the current action nicely and set the stage for going forward and really got me interested to read the next in the series so take my rating with a grain of salt as cliffhangers/continuances are one of my pet peves. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the next one!

Mr. Story does a good job with narration making the characters really come alive.

"Love the Hunt Chronicles - can't wait for Vol 3!"

Great story, makes more sense if you've read Vol 1. Generally like the reader but he does stereotypical voices (i.e. Black and Latino characters) too much. Feels like the author set him up for this to some degree with his lines for one of the Latino characters, who of course was a construction worker. Just assume everyone who's skin isn't described as "chocolate" or "mocha" is white. Still like the plot though.

    "A unique and enthralling world"

Ive read hundreds of zombie survival books. J.D. kept me guessing the entire book, I could not get enough and read it in 2 sittings. He did a small shout out to another author that I read as well T. W. Brown. That made me giddy. this author really goes the extra mile in organizing his story and I look forward to purchasing anything he's involved with. simply literary ecstasy.

    Story
    "Excellent series!"

I remember messaging the author a while back, when part 2 would be available (after finishing up "The Awakening " in record time!) - and as it turns out, it was available in kindle format, BUT..... Joshua Story IS Christian, he IS Fish - and as much as I thoroughly enjoyed The Awakening and wanted desperately to find out what happened next, I had to wait for the Audible version - and again J.D. Demers and Joshua Story didn't disappoint.

Zombie virus, yes - but with a unique twist.

Military, yes - but not an overly obnoxious amount and each military character had his/her own personality..... not just a detailed list if guns he carried.

Bad guys, yes - but it's a grey area of bad....makes you think "but if I were that "bad guy" what would I do?....

    Loveable dog? YES!

I haven't noticed any style of cliffhanger, just a "well, that's what happened to get us to this point, I'm tired and will continue my journal tomorrow " (as written by the main character) . A nice way to entice the reader to want more in another book, but not obnoxiously.

"Finally, a zombie tail with substance!"

It's hard to find a good Zombie story After being A Mark Tufo fan for many years. But this one kept my attention and made me laugh, gasp and cry. It also never hurts to have a canine hero in it.. loved it Loved it Loved it!
