Fun but winding down.

Good finish to the series bit not as much fun as the other two. Still a good read though.

This series just keeps getting better

What did you love best about The Hot Gate?

I am a Coast Guardsman. I spent a lot of time underway and I could empathize with the competent personnel in the book. Back in the post Viet Nam era military we had some of the same problems. They were overcome by less intense methods but in combat I could see the lead character being just this way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hot Gate?

The everyday problems of daily living in space were carefully considered and delt with.

What does Mark Boyett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read the book before I listened to it. I usually do this because my mind builds a different world in my mind. This gives the book a whole new flavor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen in a single setting. I travel a lot.

This book is awesome!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not only what I recommend this book to a friend, I have recommended it to all my friends. Each book is an enjoyable story unto itself but, it really should be read from first to last. Characters are well-developed the space battles are excellent and the humor is very entertaining.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It is difficult to pick out single character as a favorite they all have their good points.

Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The narrator is very good and I have enjoyed all of the books that I have listened to where he has narrated.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Live free or die.

Overall good but slightly disapointing

I enjoyed this installment almost as much as the first two, until the last two and a half hours, when it had extensive use of the F word. Though I normally have no issues with the language in his books, the other books in this series were more or less family friendly. As such I have listened to the first two with my family. I will not do so with this one. I have enjoyed all of Ringo’s books, and if you do not mind the language then you will enjoy this book.

Let Down

Would you listen to The Hot Gate again? Why?

This is the continuation of the Troy Rising series and if you loved it like the rest of us you will clearly need to keep reading to see what happens next.

If you’ve listened to books by John Ringo before, how does this one compare?

Unfortunately up until this book the Troy Rising series has been pretty balanced between getting to know characters and the action of actually dealing with aliens and this book just doesn't cut it for me. There is SO much time spent on explaining how Latin/South American culture is basically inept in any sort of meaningful success and how the "Norte's" are trying to whip them into shape that the book leaves little room for any actual story moving forward. I do really like how it provides new perspective for events we have glimpsed before but the bottom line is I bought this book to know more about the conflicts between Earth and the Aliens and I was subjected to way to much filler.

Which character – as performed by Mark Boyett – was your favorite?

While Comet is pretty well the main character for this story I still like Tyler the most. He is a home grown no nonsense kind of man who gets things done. Good Man.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Latin America = useless

a Fracken fun read

I'm not sure what happened. this was a fun PG series until the last half of this book. then all of a sudden "f" bombs we're everywhere. Throughout the series even the battle scenes frack was the word used. I just found that unnecessary.

Great finish to a great trilogy.

In true John Ringo fashion, there are multiple great stories all woven in and meant to be enjoyed simul-together! Highly recommended!
