Overrated

I only read this because I'd heard it mentioned so many times and know it is the basis for Lord of The Rings, plus plus. I am an old guy. This is more for kids and young people. I saw it thru, but would not really recommend it to any adults.

some text was missing.

Some jokes were omitted. I remember them well since they bring flavour to the story. don't know why they were removed. that's why I knocked 2 stars out.

it is not the whole story only part of it.

The narrator is wonderful, but it's not the whole story. disappointed to say the least.

This is not the full Hobbit book and it is not available to return. This is half of the bloody book and it takes a whole credit. The worst thing is that I cannot return it.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This audio book unfortunately doens't follow word by word of the book and that was a problem as my daughter needed to listen to the book and follow in the book for school.She struggles with her reading and cause High school doesn't give you long to read a book she can use her kiddle if available in audio. So she can listen and follow in the book. It didn't work.

Its about Hobits. Didn't listen to it my self.

I wish audio books followed the novels word for word, that would be really good.

I really should have paid more attention but this is the ABRIDGED version of The Hobbit, I only realized this because of the number of chapters.

I went back and looked at the description, it does not mention ANYWHERE in the description that this is the abridged version. Abridged is written in tiny print along the thumbnail of the title.

I feel like audible should clearly mark abridged vs unabridged.

The Hobbit is a rather short book to begin with, it didn’t really NEED an abridged copy.

Much missing

I spoke with a customer service rep to be sure I got the full version of The Hobbit. They advised me on this one but really had no idea. Couldn't even pronounce the author's name. Much is missing from the book. Just paragraphs cut out. Not even edited as a normal abridged version.
I need to return this and get the full real one, but since I'm new to this, I don't know how. i was told I could. I wish the person I spoke with was more knowledgable about what is in the books. And listening to a clip does not help when you have the book in front of you. It should be the entire first or second page to determine if it's the book you need.

Still don’t see where is says abridged. Not even going to download it. I feel that I should be able to return it and receive my one credit back.
