Content to walk alone, happy to have company.
A fantastic adaptation of one of the most unique pieces of fiction I've come across, and a special treat for those of us who were introduced to the imagination of Douglas Adams through the BBC Television series, since many of the same actors are found here as well.
Sci-fi, detective, cozy. Only give 5s to those books I think stand above the rest. 4 is a good solid book. 3 is average, nothing special.
What can I say? A classic all around. Been in my top 10 books for many years. The original radio broadcasts here are great also. A must.
This is a great series. It's so much fun to hear the book/radio scripts being played. I want my electric thumb so I can come along to.
Douglas Adams is/ was a genius, his imagination is like no other. Awesome book,I was thrilled to see it for the kindle fire .So very much worth the
Addicted to audiobooks. Can't go a day without it. Makes housekeeping, cooking and hobbyist more interesting.
Hitchcock Hikers Guide to the Gallaxy
is a classic that's for sure. My only complaint is when you combine a radio programs episodes, you should make a little cohesive. In other words use the theme music to a minimum please because it got annoying really fast. Other than that it is the same wonderful Adams creation.
I absolutely love this series. I had a copy of this back when it was on a tape cassette. My only disappointment is that it is EXACTLY as I remember the sound quality on the tape cassette. However, the audio mastering could and should be overlooked, because this series is fantastic and the audio mastering drastically improves with the 3rd installment. Hang in there, it's worth it.
Douglas Adams has become immortal with this telling of a man's journey through existence unwittingly searching for truth. Narration done effectively in language that commands attention for a ride into reality.
"I'd forgotten how good they were!"
I listened to these episodes many years ago without quite realising how exceptional this series was. It's so good to be able to hear it again with a full appreciation of its quality.
I've enjoyed the novel versions of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but the BBC radio version, which was the first, is easily the best. All the characters are cast perfectly and the tight deadlines helped the author not be self-indulgent (a trap the novel 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish' fell into)
Douglas Adams' work is always good. Intelligent, funny, gripping and thought provoking. Can't go wrong :)
It's a hilarious ride into the galaxy with famous British sarcasm and spot an narration.
Not heard this for a long time but still as fresh as ever. ..great dialogue from all involved..
"Great series and really good interviews"
Remember listening to the series on the radio when younger, the additional interviews with the author and cast make the story really come alive. I read the books first but hadn't realised they were written afterwards! Really interesting
Very funny and enjoyable listen that was interesting all at the same time. Would recommend
"best radio broadcast in history!"
the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy has got to be one of the best radio series to have ever been written. this series is by far THE best reading of it..
this is my favorite story cos it's mad and abstract and so So clever in detail. unfortunately I only get the primary series for a 1credit on audible. the whole series is immense. I have read the book..... gonna go search for the book now. xxx
Disappointingly poor drama and even worse as comedy - your time would be better spent listening to another audiobook.
