Publisher's summary

Seconds before the Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last 15 years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor.

Together this dynamic pair begin a journey through space aided by quotes from The Hitchhiker's Guide ("A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.") and a galaxy full of fellow travelers: Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two-headed, three-armed ex-hippie and totally out-to-lunch president of the galaxy; Trillian, Zaphod's girlfriend (formally Tricia McMillan), whom Arthur tried to pick up at a cocktail party once upon a time zone; Marvin, a paranoid, brilliant, and chronically depressed robot; and Veet Voojagig, a former graduate student who is obsessed with the disappearance of all the ballpoint pens he bought over the years.

Where are these pens? Why are we born? Why do we die? Why do we spend so much time in between wearing digital watches? For all the answers stick your thumb to the stars. And don't forget to bring a towel!

Fist time I have listened to an Audible.

I seen the Movie version of The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy that came out in 2005, Then soon after that I found out there was a series of books. So when I got audible this was one of the first things I wanted To hear. I think Stephen Fry did a great job narrating the book. I was entertained by the audio version and plan on listening to the whole series.

I had always wanted to read this. I love Stephen Fry and this book is so well read. I didn't really know what to expect. I had some good laughs but ultimately left feeling like, "wtf?"

42 and More

Best way for me to surmise it will probably be 'Monty Python does a space skit'! The writing and narration is engaging, and the ending leaves a good grounding theme of uncertainty as is intended.

Highly entertaining and witty

Love this book. Listening to audio version which is excellent. Fun novel to look back on 40 years later and think about its implications now that we’re actively traveling into space

A GREAT PERFORMANCE

I loved this rendition of The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I first heard this as a radio play in 1978 and Stephen Fry does a marvelous job of reinterpreting it for modern times. He does all the voices! and it is so funny!

A " classic " for any space curious si-fi person who thinks outside of the normal reality of our own existence. If you enjoy the abnormal, you will love this book. I love it!!!

All The Fish
