    "Simply outstanding!"

Brilliant finish to a gripping trilogy. Sanderson weaves a subtle and intricate plot, always keeping the listener guessing. Indepth character development really bring the people in the story to life and the descriptions of the impact metals have upon the world from the ordinary misting right through to the omniscient gods bring a whole new dimension to the world.

Sanderson brings the right level of detail without becoming boring or long winded or skimping on something that is essential to the story.

If you like a good "can't put it down" sort of book in this genre, this trilogy and especially, this final book is the one for you.

    "Loved this from book 1"
What made the experience of listening to The Hero of Ages the most enjoyable?

You understand exacly what the writer was trying to tell you. Very good!

What did you like best about this story?

When Vin and Ellend realised that they loved each other.

What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Explaining all the fascinating combination of the metals and what it could do for the mistborn I would not have had the patience to read the book myself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes the ending. I will not say more...........

    Any additional comments?

Very good listening material from book 1

If you could sum up The Hero of Ages in three words, what would they be?

    Tantalizing, manipulating, unexpected

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I tried my hardest, Sanderson knows how to keep things interesting from one minute to the next. you have to really pay attention to what all his little clues that are there.

    Any additional comments?

I love how well he has planned his books, how well all three of his books are able to tie in so well. my advice is do not google any information, if you do then it will ruin the books, even something as simple as alomantic metals. enstead ask a friend who has read them before or make a list of them.

if you dont google it then you will be surprized on what Sanderson has done at every twist in the book.

    "Just loved this series"

I just loved this series. If you loved 'The Wheel of Time' you will be thrilled with this also. The development and richness of the characters lives, I fell in love with them, all of them in different ways. Vins journey is so special and Sayzid quest for self knowledge, truly this series has everything and I didn't want it to end. As always I loved Michael Kramers reading.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This third book didn't live up to the others b/c it got bogged down in details about metals and other stuff that got convoluted. Am I the only one who felt that way?

"Nice book, shame about the file errors"

The story itself is pretty good - a continuation of the trilogy, it's starting to wane a touch, but still entertaining. So far, at least. I've not yet been able to finish the audiobook. I've got to chapter 2 of part 2, but no further.

This is primarily the fault of Audible or Orion, rather than Sanderson - I use the audible iphone app as it's useful for keeping track of what I'm listening to and where I've got to. But something in the chapter encoding is fully broken - I keep getting the error message "error reading audio file" whenever I finish one chapter and move onto the next. Deleting and redownloading the audiobook (or the app!) doesn't fix the problem, and audible helpdesk don't respond. Even using the app on a different device doesn't fix the problem - the file itself is what's bugged, not the download. I don't get this problem on any other audiobook in my library.

I'd love to finish the book, but until Audible sort it out, I'm not able to.

    "Fantastic Epic!"

This series of Audio books kept me completely hooked. The cleverly written epic story has everything you could possibly want from a fantasy novel; fun and humour, excitement, love, fear and tears, not to mention some great action scenes. This is one of my favourite stories and will take some beating!

"An end to the trilogy - but no more"

Having thoroughly enjoyed and given five star ratings for the first two books, I approached this book with great expectations; however, I was left feeling underwhelmed.
This is NOT a bad book; indeed, I very much enjoyed it. However, it seemed purely functional, as if the series had to be a trilogy. Two was not enough, four was too many. A bit like Monty Python's Holy Hand Grenade.
As with the previous two, the naration is outstanding, and the story is well written - it just feels forced.
If you've listened to the first two, then you will have to listen to this one. It brings the story to a conclusion and answers many questions, raises many more, and answers them too for good measure.
The trilogy is five stars. The first two books are five stars. The naration is five stars. This book just falls short of the mark. I have still recommended all three audiobooks to a friend.
DON'T LET THIS RATING PUT YOU OFF STARTING THE TRILOGY, IT'S GREAT OVERALL.

"I can see the end from here..."

The end of 75 hour epic is nearly here.

How Michael Kramer kept this going beggers belief. He does a great job throughout and his careful pacing of the text makes the epic very enjoyable.

The first two thirds of the story have the familiar feel of the other two books but the final part takes us to new parts are Sanderson reveals that focus of the characters is only a tiny part of the plot. The last few chapters really open things up.

One thing that is true of all three books, for me anyway, was my misunderstanding of some of the key names and it was only when I happened to flick through the book in a store did I see my errors.

To my ears, narrator Michael Kramer calls one of the creatures a Kondra (or perhaps Condra). The book reveals the name is actually Kandra. The same can be said of one of the main antagonists which is Ruin - I heard Ruan (Roo-ann). This one is important as the character was named for a reason which only became obvious much later than it should of.

Anyway. A great end to a great series. I need a lie down.

The whole series was a wonder. Lots of late nights listening. Not enough superlatives to describe this book. So I'll leave it at that.

    "First Choice"

This is the first Audio book I bought. I didn't know what to expect and as I listened to the story I thought that I would not finish it. The book is set on a planet which is at a difficult point in it's history and both the land and the population are in a bad way. But then just before I abandoned it the narrator injected a little 'hope' into the story and I began to get interested. The story is really very good but it's the narrator who sold it to me. I was amazed at the way he could change his voice for different characters, even female. By the end of the book I was hooked on the series and eagerly await the next.

"A different take on the classic fantasy trilogy"

I don't think it's giving anything away to say that I was lulled into a false sense of 'I know how this works out'. I didn't. A refreshing twist on a classic fantasy framework.

"Superb ending to an epic trilogy"

I can honestly say that i have loved everyone of the 75+ hours i have spent listening to these books. As a lover of the epic fantasy genera my main concern is almost always the ending. With so much time, energy and emotion invested into a story it becomes almost impossible for an author to end a series in a way that will fully satisfy their readers.
    This book, however, does!

All story lines come together in an epic climax to form a brilliant conclusion to the story. One that i did not expect. Although, in hind sight, perhaps i should have. This book has excitement, sorrow, revelation, joy. The whole package.

A thoroughly satisfying ending to a brilliant trilogy.

"A Book You Won't Put Down!!"
    Any additional comments?

I struggled a little with the first book in this series but I'm very glad I persevered. Books 2 & 3 were amazing, totally captivating. I'm going to feel a little lost now. I loved the whole concept of magic through the books, so very different from anything I had ever read and anything I think I will ever read again, what a incredible imagination Brandon Sanderson has.If you have not read anything by him before and enjoy fantasy novels then I would highly recommend this series, in fact I'm completely jealous of anyone starting this series, you are in for a rare treat, it's not often you can lose yourself in another world in this way. Finally, I do have to mention the battle scenes, I LOVED them, there were some absolutely epic battle scenes in this series :-)

    "A fitting ending"

A great ending, but I found it quite a long slog to get there at times

    Story – 4/5

The magic system and world is built even further in this conclusion to the trilogy, and we understand the rest we need to know about the Mistborn powers and some of the issues that have arisen since the ending of the first book.

There were times where my mind was wondering, and I was a tad bored, but after having finished it, in reflection, an awful lot happened throughout so it was probably just me. I found Sanderson repeating himself from previous books, which got a bit tedious, but for people who didn’t read the whole trilogy together like I did, this may have been worthwhile.

There are lots of fights throughout; including a huge scaled multi-part battle at the end. If you like action, you will not be disappointed with this whole trilogy. I always find Sanderson’s action packed endings, along with his unique magic systems, to be his strongest points.

    Performance – 4.5/5

Michael Kramer is one of the very best audiobook narrators out there – he portrays sadness, happiness, comedy, action and all other scene types masterfully and he makes the enjoyment of the story far easier than most narrators. His voice acting is also superb. Each character has a subtly distinctive voice, and you will definitely not be confused with who is who in a conversation.

If you enjoyed his narration in the first 2 books, you will not be disappointed; he is consistently excellent in the entire trilogy.

    Overall – 4/5
