Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness - the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists - is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can't even discuss it with Elend, lest Ruin learn their plans!

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

Great book

A little dissappointed in the ending but overall well worth the time. I was expecting more of a dramatic finish.

The entire trilogy is incredible. So sad it ended.

From start to finish, from book one to book three, Mistborn was an enjoyment. I loved the Reckoners, but this was even better. Way better. And the narrator did a really good job.
--Sadly, the ending was lacking. Like it needed about 1-2 more chapters taking place about a few days later or something. I won't spoil it here though.
I was going to continue the series until I read the description closely. 300 years later? Really? Not going to tell us how Spook built society from ground up? Or what happened to the characters...
That nickpicking aside, this triology is one of the best. You'll get attached to the characters and the plot easily.

Maybe I'm too critical

The narrator who was brilliant in the past seemed to phone this one in a bit. Many loose ends were tied but not all of them. And the mysteries that spanned the entirety of the series ended up having rather mundane explanations. The second book was great, the finale disappointed me a bit.

Great book and series

This was a great series. Keeps you engaged the whole way through. My only complaint is that at points the audio go up or down like the narrator was either too close or too far from the mic. This could also be an issue of download I can't be sure.

The ending we deserve.

Outstanding conclusion to an already amazing saga, this final book brings an epic twist to the story and characters.

WOW.

I keep waffling between giving this book 4 stars or 5. If I could give 4 1/2, I would.

This is a engrossing trilogy which raises fascinating questions about the natures of faith, trust, and belief -- all of which are especially emphasized in this last book. And these isses are explored within a framework of exciting action sequences and characters whom the reader can invest in emotionally. These traits make me lean towards that 5 star rating.

I lean back towards 4 stars because of things like the voices speaking in characters' minds -- stolen directly from Robert Jordan's books. And also like Jordan's books, those who have "magical" powers often seem to be able to expand their powers whenever it is convenient for them to do so. Sanderson himself admits to being a rabid fan of Jordan, aside from finishing the WOT series -- so these echoes from Jordan aren't surprising, even if they can be annoying at times.

In other words, this book isn't perfect -- but it's darned good, nonetheless!

An absolutely thrilling conclusion to such a grand trilogy

Sanderson does not disappoint with his 3rd installment into the world of Scadrial. No need for a lengthy review. If you've made it this far you must read The Hero of Ages. I was worried a fitting conclusion was not possible, but Sanderson threads the needle perfectly. Twists I didn't even think of absolutely stunned me, the character development is beautiful and the dialogue and battles are tense and gritty. I was left emotionally drained and stunned by the time this book ended. It was a wonderful ride and I can't wait for more. Vin steals the show and will forever have a piece of my heart as one of my all time favorite characters.
