Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness - the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists - is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can't even discuss it with Elend, lest Ruin learn their plans!

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

A modern fantasy epic

An intense, engaging and powerful ending for this trilogy. The narrator is fantastic, at first he seems a bit dry but he gives each character a subtle but distinct voice and cadence that immediately tells you who is speaking.

Highly recommended

Nails the Landing

I've absolutely loved the story told over this trilogy, and this book is no exception. The ending is fantastic and has plenty of surprises, while being a very fitting and satisfying conclusion. My only complaint with this one was the first half of the book dragged quite a bit. It felt like nothing of consequence happened, and it was just people talking endlessly. Once I got to the second half, the story really picked up for me and felt more like the first two books. Overall, one of the best fantasy trilogies out there!

can it get any better?

it blows my mind. every book I read by Sanderson just seems to keep getting better and better. and the more you read, the more you come to understand the sometimes very subtle nuances that make his world and writing so great.

No notes. Well, aaaalmost.

Perfect. Finished the whole series… devouring it. Great performance— this wraps things up very well. I just realized toward the end of this book that it likely doesn’t pass the bechdel test (the well of ascension does but I can’t recall any scenes here that do). Overall, so many details culminate here, it’s a better ending than I’ve read in a very long time. I found myself thinking several times how well certain scenes would translate to a movie

I am openly crying at the end

Throughout my time reading the first mistborn trilogy I have constantly compared it to The Stormlight Archive also written by Brandon Sanderson. Mistborn didn't tackle some of the same subject matter and dealings with mental illness that Stormlight Archive did which at times had me wanting more from the series. now at the end of the first trilogy of mistborn I can openly say that mistborn feels perfect. the third book in the series has answered basically all of my questions the performance was outstanding as always and the growth of characters magic systems world building and overall story had me in awe. for Fantasy fans and honestly all readers I could not recommend mistborn more the ending much like all Brandon Sanderson books had me listening for hours on end and shocked me with its ending. I do not know why I feel so deeply at the end but all I know is that I am crying and it feels good. Please read mistborn for it is not just a fantasy book but a story about love, loss, the trials of life, and striving for a better tomorrow.
