Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Robert Jordan’s number one New York Times best-selling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, continues as Rand al’Thor and his companions set out to retrieve a powerful magical artifact from The Dark One’s Shadowspawn in The Great Hunt.

For centuries, gleemen have told the tales of The Great Hunt of the Horn. So many tales about each of the Hunters, and so many Hunters to tell of....

Now the Horn itself is found: the Horn of Valere long thought only legend, the Horn which will raise the dead heroes of the ages.

And it is stolen.

In pursuit of the thieves, Rand al’Thor is determined to keep the Horn out of the grasp of The Dark One. But he has also learned that he is The Dragon Reborn - the Champion of Light destined to stand against the Shadow time and again. It is a duty and a destiny that requires Rand to uncover and master magical capabilities he never imagined he possessed.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant number one New York Times best sellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

Shannon from Texas

Michael Kramer may be the best oral reader in all of Audible, it is a genuine pleasure to listen to him read. Great follow up story to the first book. Can't wait to start book 3, Robert Jordan is a wonderful story teller.

Too long for the progress moved

Book 2 continues to uncover more kingdoms with peculiar cultural eccentricities, some humane, others cruel and some even docile but all affected or so will be affected by the ever encroaching return of the Dark Lord and his amassing forces. There is plenty of intrigue amongst the various factions within the Aes Sedai along with other kingdoms that Rand and his friends visit. However, for all the expanse that this book provides, the actual progress is often sidetracked by splinter plot arcs that end up leave gaping holes by the end of the book.

Essentially, there is way too much verbiage that act more as filler than captivating movement.

An investment for your imagination.

I have read "The Wheel of Time" series multiple times since I was 16. These books and characters seem to develop more with each reading. Being able to listen to them is like sitting near the fire listening to Tom Merilin and Moraine Sedai tell the story of the Dragon.

Revelations abound!

First off, the story was really good! I love it. Especially the ending. However, as a Terry Goodkind fan, I have to acknowledge some things.

Terry Goodkind clearly took A LOT from Robert Jordan’s books. If not whole cloth, then heavy inspiration at least. I see it all, as a person who has read the entire original Sword Of Truth series and loved almost every book of it, I can say that it’s an undeniable fact.

That said, I still love those books and their evolution. It’s just plainly obvious that Goodkind ran away with Jordan’s ideas on mass.

Anyway, back to this book. Narration is well done, and Kate Reading has more time to shine in this book, which is very good. The world is growing rapidly by the end of Book Two, and I can surely see that the arc of Rand is moving into its next big milestone.

I’m looking forward to it.

Enjoying the Hunt Again

I'm amazed at how well these stories hold up a second time going through them. The character arcs are so vast that, in restarting the story, I remember primarily where I left off with the characters, and the knowledge of what they will become creates a fascinating perspective on watching them grow into that potential. It creates a different sort of tension in the story, but one that is exciting because you know how it will end.

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer continue to deliver stellar performances. Absolutely love how they handle the narrative.

So...if you're a fantasy lover and are considering Jordan's Wheel of Time series, dive in! But don't start here - begin with The Eye of the World. But if you enjoyed that book, this one is next in the series and worth every minute you spend in it.

3rd book to an amazing story.

after seeing the Wheel of time on Amazon, I decided to revisit the books. There was just to much I didnt remember happening in the TV series. The TV series has received alot of bad reviews from fans that they earned, the Director is the worst. The man has zero integrity, why change the story so much? did he just purchase the rights to the Names and not the contents? I hope history wasnt written by the same type of people, Native Americans could have come from England if what happened is anywhere close to what the TV series shows.

the 3rd book continues the adventure, there is alot of character building as the story unfolds. Rand grows as a swordsman, the female characters get fleshed out more and the introduction of the seanchan and their society makes them an enemy you will love to hate. there is alot of buildup and the climax of this book is what we expected though I wish it were a little better. The only thing I wish were different is that RJ has alot of characters that he loved in the story, and by the time it gets told the story is super long. If you have ever wished a story would never end... this one is for you. All the characters that came from Emonds field are written like MC's... and they are kinda all MC's. That is what I both love and hate about the story.

Kate and Michael's Narration make this a joy!

I read the series many times over as the books were released. Listening to the series has been a lot of fun. In particular, I have picked up things I missed while reading the books years ago. The great hunt is a really fun book, moves along a bit faster than some of the other books in the series. You get to enjoy all the main characters together for at least some of the book. The characters are just learning about their powers, which is fun too.

Book 2

Really liked the continuation of the story without a big time skip. This ending has a better buildup than book 1 but it's still a big jump (in my opinion). The characters personality growth is nice and slow as they realize that there is no way to avoid their destiny. I would definitely recommend that you continue the series with this book. I'm moving on towards book 3.

Great Books! (Excited for the rest of the series)

I love the author, and how he has laid out the whole series with all these in depth characters, towns, etc. There's a bunch of, "Wow, what?" moments that made me need to pause and be like, "I can't believe that just happened? To that character? Oooof!"

I however have been bothered by this (book two) and book one changing between the two narrators throughout the books. With some consistency it is more okay to me, but it being random chapters read by her, then there are chapters that a partially read by one and then by the other. If they are going to start a chapter I say may as well end it too, and if alternating may as well do so consecutively or in some type of noticable pattern.

There has also been noticeable repetition by the author upon matters such as, "Why can't I have the charm ______ has with girls?" Blood and ashes! But it hasn't gotten to me too much yet. If it does keep up multiple times a book as I go through however it just may. 😅

All in all it is a good series so far with some exciting twists and turns.
