A great improvement over the first book.
Unlike modern fantasy today, at the time the 1st book was made, it lacked the compactness of modern fantasy books. One gripe I had about the 1st book was the sudden appearance of the two forsaken at the last act. As someone who was a first time audiobook reader who didn't grasp everything that I listened to, those surprise appearance never had noticeable foreshadowing before they showed up. Unlike now where yes, the armies suddenly appearing may seem a deus ex machina, at least now they were foreshadowed and was a possibility. Enjoyed everything about this book, loved it when everything came together and especially the girls rescuing egwayne instead of the men. Looking forward to the next one.

Nothing but action!
I felt like this book had much more action than the first book in the WOT series. I know that the first book had a job to do with building the world and the characters, but I loved the action and story line in The Great Hunt! The characters became so much deeper and endearing, and the story line really went into overdrive! Excellent writing, and the world that Jordan has created here is rich and vibrant. First rate narration tops off a great listening experience!

Great series!
My husband had been after me for years to read The Wheel of Time series. Audible makes it so much easier to do! I've thoroughly enjoyed how Ms. Reading and Mr. Kramer read the stories too. I recommend them to all my friends.
