Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Robert Jordan’s number one New York Times best-selling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, continues as Rand al’Thor and his companions set out to retrieve a powerful magical artifact from The Dark One’s Shadowspawn in The Great Hunt.

For centuries, gleemen have told the tales of The Great Hunt of the Horn. So many tales about each of the Hunters, and so many Hunters to tell of....

Now the Horn itself is found: the Horn of Valere long thought only legend, the Horn which will raise the dead heroes of the ages.

And it is stolen.

In pursuit of the thieves, Rand al’Thor is determined to keep the Horn out of the grasp of The Dark One. But he has also learned that he is The Dragon Reborn - the Champion of Light destined to stand against the Shadow time and again. It is a duty and a destiny that requires Rand to uncover and master magical capabilities he never imagined he possessed.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant number one New York Times best sellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

Wheel timely wimey

What I like about these stories is the fact that they are a story unto themselves. Not just some sequel bait. There's a complete arc(s) throughout. I continue to highly recommend the series. AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

An old favorite

This has been a favorite for many years. The narrators are excellent, clear and easy to understand at all times.

The characters really begin to experience the things that shape the entire series, and I love seeing their beginnings.

A Fantastic Followup

Short review: I loved this book!

The biggest takeaway from this series is the burden and mysteries of fate: do we succumb, do we fight it, or is there even a point? If you are destined for something and you "fail"...were you destined to fail or did you mess up some grand, weaving plan? Stuff like this seems to be a theme, if even in part, throughout the series but that could change...I am only 2 books in so far.

The characters are still great and the strife between them seems realistic opposed to stressed for artificial conflict. The general story line of this second entry seems fairly low key, in my opinion, but that opens up to larger possibilities. There are also some new, important players introduced as friends and foils to the main characters.

Largely, I loved this book. If there are some minor complaints it would be that the some important conflicts and subplots are hurriedly resolved. This happens in such a way that it makes me feel Robert Jordan had no interest in keeping these characters, and groups of people, around for the next arc and wanted to finish that ASAP. Also, the combat can sometimes start and end so quickly that I would scrub the audio back and have to re-listen since I didn't think I could have missed it that quickly.

Still, this is a great listen (and read). The performances by both Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are just as good, if not better, than in the previous entry and I look forward to them in the next book.

so amazing

I am completely amazed at the way Robert Jordan is able to bring imagination to life. The characters are rich with thought and emotion and the way he weaves then into a real life world I sometimes feel like I could book tickets and fly to this imaginary place.

The Great Series Hunt

Though it is n only the second book in a series of 14, The Great Hunt is a great book. The story of Rand, Matt, and Perin continues. This is my new favorite series. The dual readers for the male/female parts is something very welcome, and something I have dinged other series for not doing.

If i have to find a complaint, it is that you had best start from book one or be confused as to the politics, characters, and affiliations. But this is expected, and is very very small of a problem. Once again, do not start with this book, begin with The Eye of the World.

Great story, disliked male narrator.

This would've been 5 stars but the narrator's voice grated on my nerves. His volume and the rate of his speech varied too much. I had a difficult time listening because either I couldn't find a volume that wasn't too high or too low. The female narrator was great and I had no problems with her voice, so I know it wasn't me or my equipment.
