Publisher's summary

Millions of people are confronting aliens that authorities say do not exist. Now Whitley Strieber, author of the #1 best seller Communion, which detailed his own close encounters, returns with The Grays, a mind-bending journey behind the curtain of secrecy that surrounds the subject of aliens. This audiobook will make you think deeply, not only about the mystery of who the Grays are, but who exactly we are.

Meet the Three Thieves: a group of Grays assigned to duty in a small Kentucky town. They've been occupying this town for decades, abducting its residents and manipulating bloodlines in an attempt to create an ultra-intelligent human being. Nine-year-old Conner Callahan will face the ultimate terror as he struggles to understand who he has been bred to be and what he must do to save humanity.

Meet Colonel Michael Wilkes, a government official who has monitored the Grays' presence for years. He's done everything in his power to keep the secret of the Grays from reaching the public, but when the Grays begin to reveal themselves, Wilkes' fear of ultimate occupation forces him to set in motion a sinister plan to ensure the survival of humanity. But at what cost?

The fate of the human race lies in one woman, Lauren Glass. Her father was the only man to communicate with the Grays. His untimely death leaves Lauren the unique ability to communicate with the last remaining captive Gray, known as A for Adam, and she may be the only one to truly unravel the Grays' ultimate plan.

"A terrific read." (Booklist)
"It goes without saying that [Strieber's] abduction scenarios have a disturbing authenticity that even skeptical readers will find provocative." (Publishers Weekly)

Loved This Book...I'm officially a Strieber Fan

I really dug this book and I highly recommend it. When I wasn't listening to it, I was thinking about it. There was no lull in the pacing. The imagery was very well written, and played out like cinema in my mind. But I SWEAR, if anyone tries to make a movie out of this one, I will "Stewie" slap their *$$!! I tried to watch the "Communion" movie online ('cuz I could find the audiobook/ebook) and I fell asleep on it, it was so dull. Despite classic Christopher Walken acting, it was poorly translated into a screenplay, even by Strieber, himself. I'd hate to see the same happen to this one. Anyway, "The Grays" was memorable, and left me wanting more of the story, but satisfied with the ending. Now I'm ready for "Hybrids." Altho Strieber's new book isn't noted as a sequel to this book, I hope it throws back to it.

Heart warming but not too light

A nice different promise . I thoroughly enjoyed this. Some of the characters could’ve used a little more depth but other than that I love the backstory. I love how it was tied together- no spoilers -
Great story.... easily could have been twice as long. I was sad when it was over I miss them.

An excellent addition to the genre.

I had some reservations about purchasing the book. Was I ever wrong!
In the book we have political intrigue, secret agents, “the grays”, good sci-fi tech, an excellent narrator and a very well written story. The quality of the prose was refreshing and unexpected. Many of the stories I have listened to recently, while good, seem to have been written in a basic literary format. That may be just my impression. Whitley Strieber impressed my with his ability to turn a phrase and impart an image greater than just the words. Well done.
The story itself was fast and dramatic. The alien theme was well done. Just enough “what if” to be intriguing. I listened to this book in two days and wanted more.
The narrator Stephen Lang was excellent. The story really came to life with his clear and bright voice. Again well done.

A Good Substitute for Coast to Coast

I'm a big fan of the overnight radio show "Coast to Coast". If you are too, you'll probably enjoy this novel. I didn't like the narrator. His voice was just not a good fit, but after I got into the story, it didn't matter so much. I listened to this while driving late at night where I couldn't get my favorite late-night show and this helped the miles fly by.

Worth a listen. Would make a great movie!

Unexpectedly awesome! Great characters. Original premise. A lot of action. The narrator was good, though I didn't like a male doing female voices, it wasn't a deal breaker. I will definitely be listening to the authors other books.

I enjoyed this book

I like alien books. This one was nice because it didn't involve "The Alien Invasion" that most books have and it even included the Area 51 Alien. I think I'll try another of his books.

People too, just of a different shape...

Whitley's clear sight and deep understanding of the ongoing hybridization program of the Gray's comes to light in this masterpiece that is a must read for all ufologists.
